Turbobrick Neutral Newbie February 24, 2003 Share February 24, 2003 Uncle Foo, sponge type does not "straighten" flow as well as cotton (K&N), but definitely flows better than OEM paper filter. For such aftermarket filters, just remember to use paper towels or newspaper to soak up the excess oil at least overnight after re-oiling (I leave paper towel soaking for 24hrs on my K&N). So keep the apaper filter for use when you're cleaning the aftermarket filter

Andrewkb Neutral Newbie February 26, 2003 Share February 26, 2003 Talking about straighting airflow .... those Cyclone creates "swirl" in the air intake to improve low end, isn't that contradicting in concept ?
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie February 26, 2003 Share February 26, 2003 In actual fact, the swirling of air is necessary in the combustion chamber. But cyclone's claim of swirling the air before the intake valves is kinda reversing physics

Koolaba 1st Gear March 2, 2003 Share March 2, 2003 (edited) Is it OK to use K&N for prolonged periods? Will it affect e MAF sensor? Edited March 2, 2003 by Koolaba
Lester Neutral Newbie March 3, 2003 Share March 3, 2003 Yes, it's ok to use K&N for STIPULATED period as recommanded by K&N. Any prolongation is at your own risk. Yes, it should affect your MAF sensor. As more air is coming into the intake, your ecu will alter accordingly to the increased MAF sensor output and the same amount of fuel will have a more complete combustion and thus a cleaner engine on the long run.
