Jamesgetz 4th Gear March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 for me, the Caltex Platinum feels more powerful (based on butt dyno) and better FC as compared to Shell V-Power u r not the only one... my ride felt like it was steriods when i used Caltex Platinum. think my ride has acquired a taste for Caltex petrol ↡ Advertisement

Apollo 1st Gear March 22, 2006 Share March 22, 2006 my 2ct, always do a cyclic using normal RON petrol and then follow thru with a higher grade like V-power, instead of using additives. say 4 95RON: 1 techron. this cyclic will b cheaper then regularly topping up with fuel additives. but there r no fixed rules of the ratio. if u r doing more urban driving, u expect to hv more carbon deposit buildup. and vice versa for expressway drivers, u probably need to make do with lower ratio. Alpha78 6th Gear March 22, 2006 Share March 22, 2006 Never try before. How expensive is this stuff? Eh, apparently when I pumped on Monday, even the Silver is listed on the receipt as SlvTechron, so I suppose all grades of Caltex petrol have it? Prices are still the same as before. As for my butt dyno feel, exerting the same pressure on the accelerator seems to make the RPM go up faster than before, and I can remain at the higher gear at a lower speed (I drive manual) without engine shuddering. I refilled at the 1/4 tank mark too. So, maybe the Techron works? Or maybe it's psychological?
Nutty 4th Gear March 22, 2006 Share March 22, 2006 Oh.. so all grades of Caltex petrol are lined with Techron eh?
Alpha78 6th Gear March 22, 2006 Share March 22, 2006 Think so. And for those freebie-siao, they are giving away boxes of tissue paper with the Techron ad printed on it. Better than striking a "jackpot" when they print your Caltex points, and only win a box of tissue paper.

Vblaster_w211 2nd Gear March 22, 2006 Share March 22, 2006 Actually, been using Caltex for some time already (from previous rides till now). No issues with performance. I use 95 for Teg, and 98 for E200K. Teg actually feels good with Caltex 95, very responsive and rev happy. I used to use Shell, but switched to Caltex since getting better discount via starcard. Passim 1st Gear March 23, 2006 Author Share March 23, 2006 According to the Caltex printed receipt, it says the price for Caltex Platinum Techron is S$1.870 per litre and after discount of 10% is S$1.683. Therefore for 43 litres, I have to part of S$72.369 to the cashier from my saving account before I am allow to leave. For my coperation and I rewarded with two slim boxes of tissues paper. Passim 1st Gear March 23, 2006 Author Share March 23, 2006 OK, I only drove a very short distance after refilling with Caltex Platinum Techron last night, i.e. the morning sprint from home to office which is about 8 or 9 KM. Somehow the car feels more lively than yesterday morning and the result is that I arrived on time this morning - yesterday I was late by 3 minutes. Passim 1st Gear March 23, 2006 Author Share March 23, 2006 I saw an advert today in the Straits Times in which Shell has just launch V Power with Fiction Modifier Technology (FMT). Ya, I think a war is brewing, hope it means lower petrol price for all.
Passim 1st Gear March 23, 2006 Author Share March 23, 2006 As you can see from Darklord's post, the risk assoicated with driving to JB is very real and high ... so for me it is a out of bounds area.. unless I am with a group...

Passim 1st Gear March 23, 2006 Author Share March 23, 2006 Being in a world wide consumer driven economy, majority of us are subjected exploits of advertisments and marketing campaign. The best marketing campaign I know of is Sony with it "Walkman". It is etched in the mind that when you mention Sony, one automatically thinks of Walkman or the other way around, when Walkman is mentioned, on automatically thinks of "Sony". The other good marketing campaign is the Marlboro Man, an universal recognisable icon..
Calfskin Neutral Newbie March 23, 2006 Share March 23, 2006 SPC's having some "Paste our sticker/decal and win" contest. best decorated/decaled cars win something. think got free petrol or something liddat. thing is, they've only got 2 designs - its either one or the other. liddat where got room for creativity? you either choose design 1 or 2 and slap it across your car, and hopefully get spotted, hopefully win something at the finals, and hopefully win some petrol. liddat all cars look the same with either this or that design only wat. sorry i don't know the exact mechanics, but that's my impression. ↡ Advertisement
