Passim 1st Gear March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 Hello MCFers, The fuel gauge is reaching the 1/4 mark so have to top up petrol soon. I have been using Shell V-Power all this and now thinking of trying Caltex Techron (to get cleaners inside car engine scrubbing the pistons and valves as they advertisement shows!!) So the question is whether has anyone tried this fuel? Is it good? ↡ Advertisement
Nutty 4th Gear March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 Never try before. How expensive is this stuff?
Ivan96935sg Neutral Newbie March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 I guess Techcron should be label as premium grade petrol, so the price should be around the region of Shell V-power pricing.....
Cyberet Neutral Newbie March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 for me, the Caltex Platinum feels more powerful (based on butt dyno) and better FC as compared to Shell V-Power
Picantorianhub Neutral Newbie March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 Sorri nope but isnt all grades of petrol suppose to clean the engine
Poortraveller 1st Gear March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 for me ... Redex + Jaybee petrol
Genie47 1st Gear March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 The amount of Techron in Caltex petrol is actually quite pitiful. Better off buying concentrated Techron and dumping into your tank.
Turbonetics 2nd Gear March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 this one got the caltex staffs inside ur engine block to clean for u... so do u think hand wash is better???
Cheeze Neutral Newbie March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 is there anywhere that we can get this techron?
Genie47 1st Gear March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 I think Caltex stations should sell it. I forgot but someone did mention a particular Caltex station sells Chevron's Techron fuel additive.
Jnetjnjn Neutral Newbie March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 How about STP Complete Fuel System Cleaner? Anyone tried it? They should work the same as Techron, right?
Zann Neutral Newbie March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 Does it really help? Or should we just leave the fuel system as it is?
Vit4wd 1st Gear March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 I wonder how much Chevron spent on this marekting campaign? Who pays for it? YOU, the end consumer
Genie47 1st Gear March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 Nope. See BITOG. Techron is proven along with FuelPower.
Jnetjnjn Neutral Newbie March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 Well, I guess the engine would run better when it's cleaner.
Jnetjnjn Neutral Newbie March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 Maybe I should give it a try at Caltex to see if it's really better.
Cyberet Neutral Newbie March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 (edited) http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/ultima...=5;t=003621;p=2 another interesting post http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultima...ic;f=5;t=004359 Most commercial fuel injector cleaners will not hurt your engine, but may skew your uoa results. Apparently, Fuel Power does not, but actual cleaners like Techron and Redline SI-1 may skew uoa's to a degree. i have only tried caltex vortex with FP, but not techron with FP.. but since they are the only top tier provider with 95oct in sg without charging a premium, sounds good to me Edited March 21, 2006 by Cyberet
Jamesgetz 4th Gear March 21, 2006 Share March 21, 2006 Quote I think Caltex stations should sell it. I forgot but someone did mention a particular Caltex station sells Chevron's Techron fuel additive. think the person is me... it's along frankel ave. note that it's sold by the workshop housed inside the petrol kiosk (don't think the petrol kiosk counter sells it) ↡ Advertisement
