Hey, that's a great price. Thanks for letting me know. Will seriously consider the AVS Db then because it's performance level will be better than the GR80s.

How are the tyres? What were the pervious tyres that your car was using and how does the AVS Db compare to those?

What about hankook VENTUS V8 RS - H424? I am still pondering

over whether to choose GR80 or H424, requirement is which one

will be more quiet. Any bro used both before and any comments?

These 'tests' come out about 2 years ago when the GR80 were first launched. Natural competitor to MXV8. I believe there was only 1 'test', but reported by different mags/reporters. Take these 'tests' with a pinch of salt. 1st - local car mags, where Bridgestone were advertising like crazy at that time for GR80. 2nd - the test setup were not really known - cars, road conditions, condition of tires, how they measure - person or sound meter, etc.

I remember because I changed to MXV8 about 2 years ago. Was also considering GR80. Finally, as MXV8 is also a green tire and my previous Michelin gave me very good long-lasting service, went for the MXV8.

I wanted to get the AVS DB but instead, I was recommended the dna DB ES501. But no regards, for the choice of ES501 - very quiet and comfortable. Moreover, it's from Japan rather than Thailand for MXV8 or GR80, and price wise, no difference.

Used both and very hard to seperate the two. Both are equally quiet and dry grip is good for both. Wet grip I would say V8-RS is slightly better.

All boil down to price. I got my V8 at a very good price (205/55/16 for about the price of 195/60/15 - GR80).

Hi Toledosun,

Sorry to OT, but check with u something, i m using GR80 205/50/R16 also... but i noticed there will be a burning smell at the tyres after i parked the car. (This is particularly after i was driving about 120km for a distance and stop the car about 5 minutes later) Wonder u have encounter this problem before?

Thinking of changing my tyres to GR80 with the same specs as u. Have you gone back to the reseller? Any cause for concern, please share. Thanks.

Actually din really care to go back to reseller. This set of tyres already run for about 30k.. juz wanna find out did the others face the same problem when using gr80. The smell only appear when i drive faster den usual home... n i can smell it when i stop my engine at the MSCP. If not, during casual driving style the smell dun appear.

But honestly i personally feel that the wet grip is not as good as potenza G3. Although comfort is better and road noise is quieter as compared to G3. I skidded during rainy day once [shocked] , so not so confident with the wet road anymore. [shakehead]

I intend to change to G3 or Eagle F1 after they r worn out.

Had been using MXV8 (made in japan) for 42000 Km . Satisfied . Was quiet for the 1st 30000+ km. Noise level gets higher after that. Good wet performance. Tread life good.

Just changed to GR80 last weekend. Quiet. Need to scrub for 500km to see if it is great.

Comfort good. I switch due to all the good comments and also price diff.

I was quoted in the range $11*-12*/piece for MXV8(Thai made) but decided to go for GR80(jap made) which is cheaper. 195/60R15 for my Altis. Hope this help.

1. Which are the magazines that did the comparsion between GR80 and MXV8?

2. I used both before and my preference is MXV8.

my impression is tha michelins are pretty ex cf bridgestone. currently using GR80 but cannot compare cos never tried MXV8.

GR80 is great but dunno how it fares cf MXV8 [:)]

Wah...good to hear tat preceda 2 is good for cornering. Hw much u bought at tat time per pc?

Read somewhere in the forum before.. sometimes it is good tat dun be over confident on the wet roads with the good wet performance tyres. After my incident, i learnt to go slow during rainy days.
