I am interested in purchasing this toyota hilux. My last check with Borneo is that they only have the 2-door version.

Any parallel importers retailing the 4 door version? (has a shorter tail - look more balance and masculine)

I nvr seen a double-cab hilux locally, but malaysia-reg saw a few on our rds. Another alternative will be the Isuzu double-cab pickup or the Ssangyong Musso.

Both are cool with hardtop canopy!!! [thumbsup]

Last check with Borneo is that their current Hilux is retailing for $38,000

Maybe the double-cap will cost around the range of S50,000?

No parallel importers?

Hypersonic

I am driving the 2 door version. I got it for only $33500 excluding the package last April. Probably they tink there is no market for double cab so they didn't bring it in. I also love the double cab version, saw a lot in Thailand and Malaysia.

No way it will cost only $50000. If they do bring it in, expect to pay at least $60000. For double cab pickup, you only got 3 choices here. Nissan Pickup, Isuzu D-Max and Ssangyong Musso. All three are in the range of $60K.

Double-cab pickups not cheap... can buy an average 1.6L car now [sweatdrop]

The Musso was going for high $50ks... auto tranny mated with Merc engine, not forgetting the TC... [inlove]

They have to mark-up the 5-seater commercial really high, if not many might make the switch from petrol to diesel vehicles [lipsrsealed] 3L TC engine for annual rd tax of $500, u want? [sly]

The S$96K Fortuner runs on the same platform as the Hilux - glorified SUV in disguise (actually a pick up truck in reality)

Exactly! Whenever i see Fortuner on the road, i always think "Surely the buyer didn't know that the Fortuner is sharing the Hilux platform and nose."

Imagine paying 90+K for the Fortuner, compared to 60k for hilux (with bigger engine).

If it cost 60K, might have to reconsider.

You kenna poisoned by Americans issit? Americans love trucks. The BIGGER THE BETTER! Their Dodge trucks are the most powerful. Got 5.7L Vortec engine pushing out 600hp like Dodge Viper. dizzy.gif

think most buyer esp those "jus wan as much metal as possible" people...

but look at another viewpoint... a 4WD version of the twincab hilux cost 80k to get in singapore... looking at the ford ranger 4WD and the Dmax 4wd... all costing ard 80k region + - too...

so those hardcore outdoor lover... will think that the hilux platform is a blessing cos it mean that this fortuner can really offroad if needed compared those CRV... RAV4... harrier... who are only a big SUV...

plus another 15k u get "lexus like" interior... more comfy and S plate meaning no 70kph rule...

so in actual fact the fortuner offer a proven package for those who wanted offroading plus comfort...

the only problem i see is the engine... if they follow thai using the 2.5 turbo diesel... then it will be a even sweeter package...

its the same as people who think its stupid to spend such money on a landrover defender... wah lao spent 80k to drive a army rover... cos offloading not their interest... diff people diff liking...

so i will give a benefit of doubt to those fortuner driver that they buy not becos its a big toyota but because they wan the comfort yet not forsaking 4WD fun...
