1.3L Gen 2

Just went to check out the Gen2 1.3L and the Savvy... At the Showroom of Alexandra, saw new colour available for Gen2, bright yellow!!

Well, 1.3 Gen2, price at $42000 (for Manual), $44500 (for Auto). Exterior difference compared to 1.6, no colour coded side mirrors, door handles, door protection strip, no alloy rims (wheel covers instd). Interior wise, no rear power windows, no power mirrors, no rear headrest, no airbag for driver and front passenger, and no fabric insert for all 4 dr panels... The Gen2s I saw in the showroom is of newer batch, the interior is black and cream instd of previous dark brown and cream tone... The pillars are no more wrap around in cloth-like kind of materials but replaced by plastic. Overall quality seens to have improved, especially the effort require to open all four drs...Earlier batch seems to require different effort to open all 4 drs...

From what the saleman told me, currently promotion is going on for the Gen2 1.3, so they are throwing in the 15in alloys for free...

Is the rims same as those on the 1.6? The rims design looks conti to me (like those Alfa rimstongue.gif), nice but difficult to cleansweatdrop.gif

Have you not gotten a ride yet? COE supply drop and interest rate going upshakehead.gif

Rim wise, I'm not pretty sure but it was stated by the sales personnel who attended to me, that alloy wheels will be given for free as the introduction launch of the 1.3 Gen2...

I haven't got the ride yet but I've test drive the 1.6 Gen2 Auto before, compared to my Wira 1.3, it's sluggish as far as pick up is concern... I believe the lack of low end torque is the characteristic of campro engine, the engine needs to be rev to perform...Overall in terms of riding wise, it's a great improvement over previous Proton effort but not the quality of interior parts though the Gen2 1.3 I've seen, it's a later batch, I've noticed slight improvement in terms of door handle effort, switches feel... But @ $42000, I would rather get KIA RIO, that car is [thumbsup].

At first, was yes, I'm getting this car!! But @ $42k, the price is on the high side...Nowadays at $42k we got many makes to choose from... But Gen2 1.3 is a heavy car @ 1150kg for manual and 0-100km/h takes 13.5s which is same as WIRA 1.3... And I heard Campro engine needs rev to produce decent pick-up, so for city driving, I doubt it would be as fuel efficient and has good pick-up as WIRA... After a few considerations, like storage space, fuel consumption, pick-up performance and of course, reliability problem, I didn't give the Gen2 a go...

Imagine the pick up is already quite bad for the 1.6 GEN-2 (I'm driving one).... how would the pick up be for the 1.3 ones? Definitely it is under-powered.... my 2 cents....

Verna is not bad, in fact RIO and verna are the same car basically with same engine. But Verna is much more expensive, if I'm not mistaken, Verna is priced ard $45k-47k region... So for that, I'll let Verna slip away... RIO has rear headrest, front and middle interior lights as compared to VERna which has no rear headrest and frt reading lights... Moreover the RIO is priced at $42k - $44k... Both models are 1.4L DOHC 16 valves... Haven't test drive it yet but judging from those who test drove the car, they were saying the performance are [thumbsup] , fuel economy wise isn't too bad ard 14 km/l region... Anyway got to test drive the car to know if it's good [laugh] but the build quality is impressive...

Yep I agree, not to mention the lack of low end torque and heavy body, when doing ard town driving, there will be huge penalty in fuel consumption...

So far very good for me. Can't really expect much from the car bro. Except for the stiff door problem, I can get 14km/litre for urban driving and about 17km/litre for highway driving. Unbelievable rite? So are the other GEN-2 Club members bro. They were quite surprised I can get that good FC. It's just my luck maybe.... another main factor, I always go easy on the pedal. So far so good....

Then quickly go and get the Riowink.gif! I think price may go up (due to less COE) and interest rate I think has also about to go upsweatdrop.gif

With less COE maybe car price also go up as COE "might" also go up due to demand vs supply, looks like more than just the bank will go fat......laugh.gif

Mine's a 1.6 bro... Handling is ok ok to me. But with with strut bars, the handling would be superb at cornerings...

1150kg for a 1.3l car is way too heavy.

I rather save a few thousand bucks and get the Wira 1.3M which weighs only 970kg.

Tested and proven Mitsubishi engine.

Extremely spacious interior too.
