Mobile TV Tuner

Just installed the Kenwood DDX7037 today. Now aiming to install a mobile tv tuner but seems like quite a number of brand in the market thus need to gain true feedback from existing user from various brand.

I do not have a TV tuner, but have heard that there are 2 types on the mkt now- digital & analog

heard from a salesman, after he tried to sell me one (must be feeling bad), that you wouldn't be able to receive tv signals clearly while on the move. don't know how true.

Looking for one as well.... there are the cheaper 1 antenna types and the more expensive 2 antenna ones which is more than double the price ...

yes, i tink tv signal will be clearest in an open area or in the highway

Ya, but I aiming more on those external antenna as I heard a lots of internal antenna sucks !

But is it true that TV Tuner is not clear on the move?

 

Digital or Analog better?

As long as the signal is ok, digital will provide you a crystal clear video even at high speed (>200km/h). For analog, even you are near the transmission station , you cant have good reception in mobile....

So far, the best are from Nera with the outdoor antenna

I have the nera Digital Tuner, it has 2 antenna... the antenna can be mounted either in the bumper or in the spoiler... not on the roof... very ugly...

Bro..

 

The DVB dual ugly antenna that you see on top of the car is the first generation(old technology) that can only be mounted on the roof of cars.

 

Nera actually make communication equipments for vessels, so they are not a new player...

 

The reception is great as long as you don't get into a covered building or carpark.

 

There will be a certain amount of distortion in the east near changi airport because the control tower is sending aviation signals to aircrafts.

 

I would say that for mobile TV coverage, it is about 90% and for channel 5,8,CNA, 65% only...

 

If Nera cannot get a good reception... I guess other Taiwan or China made ones cannot do any better...

Hi Guys,

I'm using this AVT Digital TV tuner, with the antennas hidden in rear bumper. My player's Alpine (can see from signature). Other than some HDB carparks, underground; most of the time - reception is quite ok; even on the move (Else my wife would have killed me). I installed that at FA. You can look at the boss and say the blue Skoda (Eric) using that too :P

I've just installed one of those china brand HU that comes with built-in analog TV tuner.

 

There are two plugs out for connecting 2 analog antennas, the manual cited "better reception" with this "dual antenna" setup.

 

Unfortunately the antennas are optional, and I'm at the verge of splurging on these...

 

It is really a waste of moola?

 

Anyone got a pair of these to loan or sell me? Just wanna test it out to see if it really CMI... otherwise quite wasted leh.
