Maded Neutral Newbie February 28, 2006 Share February 28, 2006 don't wanna tune it for leaner mixes... for some reason my car's pretty used to the 95+ mix i give it.. Wifey got the car for about a week and started feeding it some 92.... after that when moving off, i sometimes get this "marbles hitting the floor sound"... like "dig dig dig dig" (i know - embarassing to be mocking sounds in a forum). One of my friends says its a ping... fed an empty tank with 98, and the problem went away... hmmmmm
Hattee Neutral Newbie March 1, 2006 Share March 1, 2006 mean plugs in every car on earth sure blacken with 500ohm huh. wat about timing angle now? think can pass sweeping statement cos got great credentials. Not me, I ain't have any.
Genie47 1st Gear March 1, 2006 Share March 1, 2006 (edited) Timing angle? You are going into a troublesome zone. The chemistry of petrol itself is your achilles heel. Whats the bloody point to go through all that! Every engineer goes through a reductionist model. The simplest system has the least tendancy to fail. Why in the world do you want to make it so damn complicated just to achieve what can be achieved already? Anyway, you can advance the timing angle, but if the timing is abnormal, the engine will be adversely affected. As usual the God-like ECU will step in. It will not allow advance beyond what is already programmed in it. When in doubt apply Occam's Razor. Edited March 1, 2006 by Genie47
Genie47 1st Gear March 1, 2006 Share March 1, 2006 (edited) Read this paper from Toyota. http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h40.pdf Better read the preceding chapter too. http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h39.pdf No wonder Toyota laments the lack of automotive expertise in Singapore. King 1st Gear March 1, 2006 Share March 1, 2006 Hi Bros, Did you guys see those ebay advertisment where they sell a small little chip that plug to your temperature sensor or coolant sensor and claimed can increase Bhp by up to 20. I read that the technique used is simple, trick the car to think that temperature is cooler outside and enhance fuel mix ratio thus give rise to more torque and better pick-up. Anyone here tried? Is the result satisfactory? Regards, this trick has been around for quite some time....the thing is your fc will go up and there is no replacement for displacement...full stop
King 1st Gear March 1, 2006 Share March 1, 2006 Don't try it. IAT hacks increase your fueling so it runs super super rich. The result is blackenened wet spark plugs among other things. Not worth the money. Performance gain is a lot actually but it runs rich all the time and there is no way to "turn it off" unless you remove the resistor. correct..in long run...asking for trouble...not unless one drive TC car but even tc car............too tired to type
King 1st Gear March 1, 2006 Share March 1, 2006 there is not such thing as cheap thrill by simple mod to get power.... i go full circle one round to come back stock.... want power turbo charge or super charge or change to higher cc engine...
King 1st Gear March 1, 2006 Share March 1, 2006 Aiya, he is like that one lah. I exchanged fire with him before. Usually, intelligent people are quite weird. Sometimes talk big but make sense one. Came to accept both sides of him here. Regards, it took three cup of milo to ask him to explain to me in layman term...layer by layer wow....

Hattee Neutral Newbie March 3, 2006 Share March 3, 2006 Perhaps, when a sweeping statement isn't universal only suggests the world is just the sky he saw out of his well. Timing angle? Genie47 1st Gear March 5, 2006 Share March 5, 2006 Sorry but the sky is not the engineers limit. In the words of Captain Picard. "To boldly go where no man has gone.". Automotive engineers and scientists will go where no man has gone. Sky? Only religious quacks will see only the sky. Look here I'm not going to debate with you religiosity over engineering. These things do not work. They add more problems. They screw your car up. They make the maker fat in the bank. If you want to convince a bunch of people to believe in your quack solutions, try convincing the guys at Eng-Tips Forums. These guys have actually seen stars and galaxies compared to skies. ↡ Advertisement
