Same as you..got it in this condition from CA... If I'm not wrong, the tinted rear lights and the rear spoiler were fitted by Autovass. You can check with your frendly SA (you know who rite) [sly]

hi bro

The Superb Regenschirm is very nice, and folds quite short I believe. I wonder if the local dealer brings that in and how much you figure it would cost. Even the Hasselblad one sells S$45 so the Superb one seems even more expensive. From the accessories site you pointed out on the Fabia thread, it seems the R

Hello,

The Superb Umbrella (Regenschrim in German) can only fit into the storage compartment in the rear passenger door panel, available on the Elegance trim Superb. You will have to change the entire door panel if you intend to have the umbrella compartment.

Hey

I hope im writing in the rite thread. if not, i apologise. Currently im driving 1991 Mit Lancer 1.3 GLX. Im looking to upsize with 2 growing kids. 2 weeks ago wifey and I went car window shopping.

First, we stopped over at KIA to see the Magentis. The exterior looks a larger version of Honda ESI. Impressed with the interior although no back seat air-con. Wife definitely liked it given the roomy back seat. they had only one interior colour that is beige.

Second was Kah Motor. Had a look at Honda Civic 1.6 which is displayed by the low spec 1.8. Unimpressive interior. Very simple. Sales lady says that shipment coming in October. According to her, they are probably phasing out 1.8. I cant remember wat was the price she quote.

Third was Borneo. Wanted to look at the new Camry but no display vehicle available yet. No sales person attended to us. There were quite a number of pple on a weekday. Had a look at the Altis. Just dun understand y they cant do a better facelift. Even the Belta looks nicer. Called them a couple of days later. The indicative price for 2.0 was 88K and 2.4 was 95K. (Last week i went down to get a brochure.)

Last, we head down to Skoda. No patron in the showroom. Had a look at both Octavia Tour and Superb. In fact, it was the second time i had a look at Octavia and Superb. Wife was impressed with the Superb and so was I. The size of the exterior deceives the eye once u are inside the car. She was also impressed when the sales person told her abt the shopping back hooks!!! Oh yes, and the back seat air-con also thrilled her.

Sales person says new Octavia coming end of this year. They are giving $1500 discount on the displayed silver and blue Octavia. Forgot to ask abt when the new Superb is coming. I saw a post here of the gold or champagne coloured SUperb. looks good although i wish there were interior pics. i was not impressed with what was on display. I like white or beige interior.

few days ago, i was alongside a champagne gold skoda superb Q plate. The driver was a 40-55 years old well dressed man in tie driving the car. i spoke to him via the window and he was forthcoming. he says the car has a solid exterior. i asked abt FC and he says abt 8-9km/l. overall it was a thumbs up from him. i saw a glimpse of his dark interior, i didnt like it actually. which it was brighter. im tired of gray interior.

My dilemma;

1) do i go ahead and down the $20K i have saved so far specifically for a new car and go for magentis. saw 2 magentis on the road. both white. quite so so design although the interior is very nice. pple have been saying that korean car drinks. the problem is i dunno whether their statements are based on facts or hearsay. those who said that their frens have experienced it, i wonder if their frens had driven a much smaller car before. thus the increase in cc and tyre will surely eat up petrol which is the reason for their statements. if do go ahead with this plan, i pay 500++ for the next 7 years with the ability to clear my loans anytime. the interest rate was 3.08%.

2) im looking for a car design that can sustain over time. So far, my opinion is the new camry and possibly the civic. although wife thinks superb can do it as well.

3) im also in sales, hence a good looking car will help in my biz - camry

4) do i wait for my target of $50K savings for downpayment to avoid negative equity. once i reached my 50K, what car do i get then? i could pay off magentis and be loan free or go for camry(which i like) or superb or cheaper civic and owe lesser.

5) thinking abt petrol and tax - civic 1.6 or civic hybrid at 1.3 is a very good choice. problem is i dun have a passionate connection for the exterior design.

6) i will definitely keep the car for at least 5-7 years hence the design has to sustain the test of time like the BMW and Lexus.

7) if i was thinking abt resale value, with the high interest rate, i will be able to scrape through only if i sell to a direct owner. its cheaper for others to buy a new car.

i apologise again if this is in the wrong thread. i have been following this thread for days just thot that this was the liveliest posting and may shed some lite to my dilemma.

thanks in advance.

hi mate

the bros and sis here can advise you further. Here's WHY we (wfe and I chose Skoda superb):

1) Design - the design is understated and stately, and look like the limo it is. Camry is alright too, in that regard, though a bit "less" musculine in my humble opinion. Most people who do not know about Skoda, think the Superb is the Audi A4 or A6, and in fact, it kinda is (same platform, at much cheaper price). the design will outlast transient tastes, and as a former creative director, I can attest that this is one of the most classy designs I have ever seen, for this price tag.

2) Longevity - the innards (engine, drive train, gear box, interior, chassis, etc) of the Skoda Superb is made to last. Sure, it looks somber, as with many Teutonic designs such as Audi and VW, but the longer you look at it, the better it looks. No point going for flashy designs which you outgrow, and find it difficult if not impossible to change, or waste money to change. The exterior is built like a tank, and will survive the long haul (nicks and small dents aside due to wear and tear). Remember the Czechs are known for making tanks in WW1 and WW2. The car is made to last decades, and certainly will last the 7-year period you set out, and much more. Can't speak for other makes, but you can check with others on that. You are really gettting an Audi for less than half the price.

3) Finance - Since the Skoda Superb is classed as a limo even though it is a turbo engine (1.8T), you won't be paying ridiculous rates for road tax and insurance. For the same performance, you would have to buy the 2.4L Camry or more. So in terms of that alone, you are looking at a good choice. As for the exact financing, I won't say the Superb is the cheapest compared to lower end Japanese and Korean marques, but that would be a personal choice you have to make. Just know the car is made to last. As for resale value, I think you should make a more rational decision rather than simply believe in herd mentality. After all, not mentioning names, massive "incidents" sometimes can negate any "perceived" herd resale value. It is just like the stock market. If there is panic selling, the price drops. If there is colossal buys against a stock, the price appreciates. It is NOT reflecting reality really.

4) Interior - The interior CAN be beige or dark gray/black, depending on your choice. My wife wanted the beige color too, until I persuaded her that the dark gray works out better for the long haul. But you can easily tell your sales executive when you place an order, to have a light interior. That is just cosmetics, nothing to do with the car itself.

It all boils down to your collective choice (your wife and you). It is VERY personal, and you should abide and respect your own decisions. We here can provide personal opinions, all spirited and honest, but at the end, it is YOUR loan and your responsibility when buying a car. We would certainly like to welcome your family to the Skoda group of friends and chat about the same car. Even if you don't buy Skoda, you are still a friend of course, so no worries there.

Just remember, a car is a big ticket item, and most of us will take a loan. It should be a both a personal pleasure to own, and a sane decision to buy. You will have to live with the car for a while.

keep blessed

tashi
