Dunno Neutral Newbie February 16, 2003 Share February 16, 2003 I'm driving a May 1995 Suzuki Swift 1.0 GL. I'm new to cars so don't know if it's has a carburator or injection engine. Heard from the previous owner's mechanic that 1994 model and before uses a carb. Those 1995 models are using fuel injection engines. Anyone experts can advise? ↡ Advertisement
Blueice Neutral Newbie February 17, 2003 Share February 17, 2003 not sure about the 95 swift, but a sure way is to look for fuel injectors and intake runners into the head. i believe its 3 cylinders, so look for 3 sets of these. better still, if you can post a pic of your engine bay. Jagash Neutral Newbie February 18, 2003 Share February 18, 2003 Definitely fuel injection. Cheers!
Vtim 3rd Gear February 18, 2003 Share February 18, 2003 You'll need to take a few pics nearer to the Air-Filter box than we can confirm it's Fuel injection or Carb I know that the Suzuki Swift 1.0 has single point fuel injection & not Multi-point Fuel Injection like most 1.3L & above cars will reduced the ===== a bit, but you'll need to use 1024 x 768 to have a better setting for Web serving
Michel Neutral Newbie February 18, 2003 Share February 18, 2003 (edited) If i'm not wrong, carb cars usually have air filters on the top, while EFI cars have air filters by the side of the throttle body.. Cheers. Edited February 18, 2003 by Michel
Vtim 3rd Gear February 19, 2003 Share February 19, 2003 The swift 1.0L single point fuel injection looks similar to the Carb version I remember about this when I was hunting for a 1.0L car back then. Instead of having a Carb, a Single Point Fuel Injector are located there . If you talk about Mulitiple Fuel Injection, which most car have now, with the injector rail on top of the block head near to the plugs, then this assumption is true
Blueice Neutral Newbie February 19, 2003 Share February 19, 2003 thats right, carb engines need to suck in air from top down, something to do with the way the petrol is mixed with the air. on the other hand, EFI doesnt employ this method hence the intake system is positioned to the side of the engine. Trdcorona Neutral Newbie February 19, 2003 Share February 19, 2003 its a carb. my fren is driving a 4dr 95 mid swift 1.0GL. checked his engine bay b4, confirmed its still carb. cos there are 2 screws for u to adjust air intake and vacuum.
Sky8807 1st Gear February 19, 2003 Share February 19, 2003 Swift is single point fuel injection engine. Single point is not very efficient, but improved over the carburettion system of fuel metering. Swift is a realiable workhorse.
