if not taking the price into considerations, there are always better but expensive product out there, for the products around the price range of alpine, i would rate it above 9 of 10, but i not recommend the spx 177r, can consider SPX-Z18T which is a 3 way, but the price is.....

actually the type-x swx-1242 was my initial choice, was still comtemplating which one to get when i posted this. but looks like most prob i will get the type x.

actually that 4k is a budget i set for myself after going thru the aust catalogue, not realy pay 4k just for all that stuff alone only..

one more thing to check, would it be necessary to have a equalizer?

coz i got a empty slot beneath my HU, one of my fren suggested installing a equaliser.

if so, are all eqaulisers analog? or do they come in digital also.

prefer idgital stuff, just adjust and program in can liao..

thats my lazy concept for equaliser, dont need to adjust all the dials repeatedly..

btw, don't realy have a preference for any specific kind of music, i listen to all kind of music but prefer bass most of the time.

was hoping the end product, the clarity will be as good as the bass power.

i think it will be very hard lah, like typical singaporean, want cheap, want new want TLN

i just collected my car and it's got a built in hu.

i don't want to remove the original hu but currently the sound sucks big time.

any advise from you guys out there?

my budget is not more than $5k. is it enough? anyway, i don't wish to spend over that amount...
