Kwongwing Neutral Newbie June 12, 2006 Share June 12, 2006 Everyone has their own taste and preference. Even for SQ, some would like the sound to be brighter, whilst others may prefer a more mellow or warmer sound. SQ essentially would mean that the sounds being reproduced by the system is accurate and as close to that as has been recorded at the recording studio in terms of tonality, clarity, timbre, etc. Other than the accuracy in the reproduction of the sound in the car, the subtlety in terms of the brightness or warmness of the sound etc. would be up to personal preference. Sarong1 1st Gear June 12, 2006 Share June 12, 2006 (edited) KelvinW, I think playing passive or active is just fine, as long as you know what you eventually want and not what others are pursuing. Of course, you can always make reference and come to a decision yourself. There will bound to be some components matching here and there to achieve synergy and harmony within any ICE system. If you have decided to go into SQ, you are always welcome to join us at the Nasi Padang meetups to listen for yourself and decide which path to take. We are more than glad to show you the path to more poison. Edited June 12, 2006 by Sarong1

Sarong1 1st Gear June 12, 2006 Share June 12, 2006 Actually, one of the member known as Kermit is using a Blaupunkt that hooks up his steering control and display. He can offer more advice...he has gone thru the painful stage to arrive at what he is today.

Kwongwing Neutral Newbie June 12, 2006 Share June 12, 2006 The easy solution is a hi-lo converter - i.e. a device that converts the spkr level outs from the HU to a line-level which can be fed into an amp. Not an ideal solution (as there would be a loss in signal quality) - but a solution which enables the stock HU to be utilized thus not compromising on the ability to retain control via the integrated buttons on the steering wheel. What Kermit was able to do was to locate a HU which could be integrated or controlled via the integrated buttons on his steering wheel - may or may not be compatible with your ride though. Kelvinw Neutral Newbie June 15, 2006 Share June 15, 2006 kwongwing, thanks to ur information. for the hi-lo converter, i think it also got some brand and grade outside market, i saw a only S$17 simple converter with 2 channel RCA output at Leader Auto, and one member here saying that he got the other Adjustable Converted and S$50. I surf for Alpine wed, they also carry a converter, don know how much is that ;
