Garis Clutched January 31, 2006 Author Share January 31, 2006 Thanks bro...i presume that this red-colour 3m mounting tape can get anywhere....is this mounting tape the same as 3m double-sided tape?
Gummaker Neutral Newbie January 31, 2006 Share January 31, 2006 bro, its double sided but i not sure its the one u referring to. u can get this tape at many places, eg. DIY store. its the red colour type 3m for outdoor use. jus remember to clean the spot u want to stick on and to paste it on a hot day or u can heat the tape before pasting on. Kb27 Supersonic March 12, 2007 Share March 12, 2007 You can also try kerosene.
Gummaker Neutral Newbie March 22, 2007 Share March 22, 2007 bro, i think one method to use is to remove as much as possible using turpentine diluted with water, then apply claybar with soapy water. finally, polish to remove the rest of the residue. that should do the trick. Apollo 1st Gear March 22, 2007 Share March 22, 2007 turpentine???? u kidding. kerosene is good. best is to use hot blower and the stickers will peel off nicely/.
ShadowSwift Neutral Newbie January 5, 2009 Share January 5, 2009 Hi there! Sorry to "dig" this thread because I can't start a new thread coz I had just created this account. I sent my car to "Autobegs" to install the side window visors. They first recommended me with the 3M double side tape. I bought 1 and they applied it. At first it looked ok but when I reached home, the visors began to "pop" out. I went there the next day. They removed everything and used a different double side tape. This time, they told me the tape is the sticky type, very hard to remove... Ouch. But it should do swee swee. But when I reached home, I noticed the same problem just that it is only isolated to one visor. I do not wish to go all the way back to the shop. I would like to know a quick and easy way to "glue" back the popped out spots of the visor. Any glue to recommend? I can't possibly pull out the entire visor and redo... nor can I squeeze bits of the 3M tape into the tiny popped out slots. Sigh.
Watwheels Supersonic January 5, 2009 Share January 5, 2009 (edited) I installed such visors on my previous eurovan. I did it at lian siong or sth, can't recall. Also using 3M double sided tape but the difference is the installers used a industrial heat gun. Using a heat gun the visor softened and took shape of the van's contours and the heat helps double-side tape adhered permanently. I still use that van occasionally, more dan 5 years already since I last did the visors. The visors still stuck on its surface firmly today. Your problem is the visor contours and your car contours dun match. No matter what glue you use is IMO the visors will still pop out of place. Hmmm... so now, how should I fix the popped visor? Do I die-die need to pluck out the entire visor and do it with a heat gun? Or can I just glue it in place? I'm looking for a quick fix since it is only 1 out of 4 visors with this problem.

No need to pluck anything. Just use the heat gun to go over the top of the visors where the double-side tape is positioned.

What I know is some windows visor is of lousy quality, especially those OEM type, there are difference in the curvature. Check your window visors first.... Functionally, they allowed me to open my windows slightly without incurring significant drag. I don't like aircon. Furthermore, no aircon gives more hp. Aesthetically, visors make the car looker nicer, IMHO. I'm still looking for a way to seal up the gaping hole. :( ↡ Advertisement
