alphard96 6th Gear July 9, 2014 Share July 9, 2014 hm...new S400 hybrid tempting. The beige interior with pink/purple LED lights looks awesome. But wish the front headlight is as nice as the latest avantgarde E class. Also the rear lights a bit "small" and not commanding enough in my opinion, merc designers should follow BMW style, the larger the car, the more prominent the rear lights. maybe merc want to follow the RR smallish rear lights design, which personally i dont like. anyway, not LS lah.... now ES300h luxury (with autotailgate) only. Same issue, cant afford the LS460L. Also heard LS new model coming soon within a year, with "smaller road tax friendly engine", should win more buyers. ↡ Advertisement

If you think RWD is a point, better choose GS250 instead of ES250, and GS250 has same price as E200, reliablity and maintenance cost wise Japanese brands are better than Conti, Edited August 18, 2014 by Quantum

Zyklon 5th Gear August 18, 2014 Share August 18, 2014 Gs250 is not very refined. The peers are slightly more refined. Es, never tried before, but if same as current camry, then probably quite good. Don't look at sgcarmart price, not representative. Borneo give very little discount, pml and c&c give a lot of discount.

alphard96 6th Gear August 18, 2014 Share August 18, 2014 I am comparing the Es250 and mercedes e200. Anyone has experience with both? Yes, both is a good example of mid size luxury saloon. E200 Avantgarde facelift headlights is one the whitest and brightest in SG road now while the lexus ES is relatively plain looking at night. Suggest test drive both and compare - specs/features/sound system - interior room space (get your family to try out, especially rear middle passenger) - refinement (noise level, suspension) - power /responsive engine/auto transmission smoothness when accelerating hard. Think you know my answer but decide for yourself.

Kalmath 1st Gear August 19, 2014 Share August 19, 2014 I am comparing the Es250 and mercedes e200. Anyone has experience with both? I test drove ES250, but not E200. My view: ES250 - similar engine as Camry 2.5. Slight vibration can be felt in stationary. Handling is acceptable, power delivery is not strong, but smooth. Interior built is very refined and most spacious among the class - no transmission tunnel at rear seat. The luxury version for 12k more has lots of options, full moon roof, Mark Levinson sound system, ventilated seat, GPS etc.. Overall impression: Space: ES250 Options and amenities: ES250 Look: ES250 - conservative, E200 Avantgarde - contemporary Power and fuel economy: E200 Branding: E200

Helloworld99 1st Gear September 5, 2014 Share September 5, 2014 The price difference between es250 and Toyota Camry 2.5 is more than $50k and both sharing the same engine. Worthwhile to buy the es250 or better to buy the Camry?

alphard96 6th Gear September 6, 2014 Share September 6, 2014 The price difference between es250 and Toyota Camry 2.5 is more than $50k and both sharing the same engine. Worthwhile to buy the es250 or better to buy the Camry? Have tried both. Frankly drive wise is abt the same. Value for money - of course camry, essentially similar car. Between the 2 hybrid, the camry seems to have slightly better fuel economy figures too. But some drivers appreciate minor things like - sunroof/moonroof, blind spot monitor, auto tailgate (for ES300h luxury only), fantastic ML sound system (for luxury model only) and the silent ride, 3 window blinds etc, rear control for aircon/sound system. Understand new model camry is coming out soon, if u r getting camry, pls wait for a while.
Mcscot 5th Gear September 6, 2014 Share September 6, 2014 The current Camry and the new ES are different cars. I will not argue about the previous model of ES which was similar platform as the older Camry BUT ...this current ES is based on the Toyota Avalon platform so I don't think we are comparing like with like. Engine wise ... I am no expert but apparently the same-ish power etc etc. I contemplated both but the Camry is approx $70K cheaper with same engine with fewer ($70K worth?!?!) trimmings. I think the price difference is saddled in the badge. If you don't mind driving a nice-ish above average toyota then I think the Camry will suffice but if you are a badge whore ... http://paultan.org/2013/12/30/2013-lexus-es-driven/
