in the end i chickened out and got chicken cables, the same $1.5/m speaker (copper core with silver coat) and $20 audiobank simple rca cables. but after u mentioned about RCA cables being worth considering, just bought one $38 streetwire rca to try. can try A-B test next time hehe. but i suppose for $38 the difference may not be much, unlike those $70 sold by M.A.U.

btw Koncept (Mr Mok) offered to install for me. he looks like a one-man-show .. or did i see wrongly, maybe his workers left already.

Suggest to buy cables from LHS @ SLT. I noted that prices at Avit Link @ SLS is high.

Brands of DIY cables that I have used for my home hi-fi and would recommend for ICE are :

RCA

1) Klotz GY 107 ($3 or 4/m) + Neutrik Pro-fi plugs ($10 each)

Speaker Cable

1) Canare 2s16 ($5/m) - It is THICK.

Cables do make a different and the above DIY cables are not pricy. Canare (Japan) and Klotz (Germany) are both cables used in professional recording studio. So, if the pro can accept them, I think I can as well.

However, they may not be as good as the branded >$100 cables but they don't cost you a bomb.

thanks mr TP for ur kind recommendation. unfortunately i already buy liao :~(

but for future knowledge, the way u calculate is, let's say 5 metre RCA cables, with 4 plugs (front left - right in, and out)

so that's $10 x 4 plugs + $3/m x 5 metres = $40 + $15 = $55

even things like copper cables i heard got different TYPES of copper etc. cheem .. this canare one is what kind of copper?

re: Koncept

it's opposite old KK hospital, in shophouses nearly next to Istana.

Hyun,

Take note that when you calculate for a 5-metre RCa cable I assume that you are referring to a 5-m pair

so that would be $10 x 4 plugs + $3/m x 5 x 2 metres = $40 + $30 = $70

Canare plugs are usually brass with nickel or gold plating.

Sorry wat does it mean when u all say DIY cables? Does it mean the connectors at the end of the wire are fixed up by the wire shop at the time of purchase?

Does the shop charge extra for this fixing up?

Thanks [:)]
