Just bought me a used set of rims today. Two of them have been badly corroded by brake dust. Does anyone here know where I could get them fixed? TIA.

Try Yew Lip Spray Painting at Blk 15 Sin Ming Ind Est, 2nd shop from entrance of road. Look for Angie Soh and tell her Gavin with light green Volvo asked U to visit [:)]

Last time I asked was $50 per rim.

Gosh! That's more than what I paid for my rims! Anyway, thanks for the pointer! Do you know if the results are good?

I'm thinking of respraying my rims also! Does the price include baking? [:p]

corroded by brake dust? Can try to use 3M wheel cleaner to remove the dust first. Spraying will be last resort.

Does it also include taking out the rims minus the tyres and mounting them back? If they're gonna bake it, it's got to be without the tyres?

I'm more concerned about the preparation of the rims before painting. Do they remove the balancing weights before painting? What about cleaning of brake dust. Paisay, I'm the troublesome customer. The painter can take the easy way out by just painting over whatever dirt on the rims.

I've check out this painter at AMK auto-point. $25 for just the rim face. They will spray with the rims on the car. Problem is that the painter does not do wheel jobs, you need to "loan" a set of wheels & tyres if you don't want to VOR.

My ideal procedure:

1) Remove all tyres and rims, install "loan" set onto car.

2) Seperate tyres and rims, take out balancing weights, and tyre valve (don't want it to be painted)

3) Do whatever touch-up on the rims, clean it thoroughly.

4) Send clean rims to painter, ask them to paint the whole rim.

5) Drive off and wait for them to call up.

After painting:

6) Collect rims, go to tyre shop to get them balanced and fixed back.
