Sabian Turbocharged January 22, 2006 Share January 22, 2006 (edited) hi upguy locally u can still get decent 30w oil ... Schaeffer's 5w30 or 10w30 @ $8/ quart/ Royal Purple @ $11/qtr (do a search and u shd be able to find it but u can PM me otw) and up north...Conoco Philips Hydroclear @ Projet petrol stations (i saw one @ jusco aeon trebau)across the casueway(RM79/ $35 after conversion) which genie47 (oil expert) recommends. i also miss mobil1 @ reasonable px but i guess the dealers have a bigger say so too bad for me...will switch to one of the above (once my current suppy runs out) unless comparable alternatives in terms of both quality & pricing are brought in by Giant or Carrefour. Glyuen 3rd Gear January 24, 2006 Share January 24, 2006 haha...petrol "oil"? maybe can try putting some of it into used cooking oil tins...
Pisces69 6th Gear January 25, 2006 Share January 25, 2006 Actually engine oil is dutiable just like petrol but the custome in SG seldome look out for it. Just put the container with the other car stuff like battery water & cans of lube spray in yr boot & they will think it's some old oil container u bringing in. If they do check & the container is still sealed or almost full, they might ask u to pay the duty.
Glyuen 3rd Gear January 27, 2006 Share January 27, 2006 I heard we are allowed to bring in a small qty (maybe 1 unit) of such goods for "personal consumption"? such as 1 pck of cigarette...... anyone knows?
Pisces69 6th Gear January 27, 2006 Share January 27, 2006 It's up to customs discretion. Even 1 pack of ciggies is not allowed. U must still declare it. Even 1 stick. There is no duty free entiltment for ciggies or tobacco products in SG, like petroleum products. Foe engine oil, u can say it's needed to top up in case I run low on the NSH. So far, they never check on the engine oil in the boot so long as it's not too much like 5 X 4 lit bottles but better to open bottle if it's a MY brand. Mdfaz 2nd Gear January 28, 2006 Share January 28, 2006 hmm.. i have 1 carton of mobil1 oil in my boot. bought it in s'pore but i put it there cos' it's easy. i never had a problem before whenever i enter s'pore. once, the customs officer did ask, but didn't ask where i got it from. didn't know they might impose taxes leh. Pisces69 6th Gear January 28, 2006 Share January 28, 2006 I too got a couple of bottles of oil in the boot but never had any problems with customs. They r well aware many cars have some engine oil in the boot for top-ups. Just like we have petrol in the tank but they don't tax that as it's crazy to try. Will show that they have reached the level of despration already. If they start to tax that, I think that's really going too far. Unless u got like 10 X 4 lit tins. Now that's different.
