Psfong Clutched January 15, 2006 Share January 15, 2006 To all those jeters, do you find your rear springs too bouncy when there's no passenger on board? Or is it my car only? Can things like Spiltfire spring adjuster helps? ↡ Advertisement
Multi 3rd Gear January 15, 2006 Share January 15, 2006 You must understand that Trajet is a MPV and it is tuned for comfort rather than sports. I changed to 17" to solve the problem. There's one owner have fitted the spiltfire spring adjuster and his comment is that the body roll is lessen but didn't mentioned about the bouncing issue though... Psfong Clutched January 16, 2006 Author Share January 16, 2006 I'm divided between keeping the stock rim size or 17". Will it be too uncomfortable, will performance be affected, will the turning radius be larger? btw, what's the unladen weight of jet?
Bigtoothpick 3rd Gear January 18, 2006 Share January 18, 2006 hiya - my 'Jet on 17" rims. Comfort : subjective - i find no big diff compared to 15". Performance : this is an MPV, i cannot chiong, got no performance effect really and somemore i'm sticking to 215 tyre width. Overall weight has greater effect on FC than the 17" e.g. full load vs. driver only, or side-steps etc. Turning radius : mmm.... dun understand how it should be affected. One thing, if your 'Jet quite new, better trade in early else your stock rims will not be worth much after some time.
Psfong Clutched January 18, 2006 Author Share January 18, 2006 Thanks for ur advice, i just upgraded to a 17". I find that the Jet is more steady, and actually, its more "nimble" than before. The bouncy ride does not affect me so much now, as I find that driving slowly over the humps solve the problem.
Bigtoothpick 3rd Gear January 19, 2006 Share January 19, 2006 wah, that's fast.... very decisive leh yah, once changed to 17" immediate effect is like u can make turns more aggressively - *nice*. but after a while u get used (or numb!) to it. And yes, have to be a bit more careful over humps and even coming down some ramps /slopes if u want to avoid too much bouncing. Our car's front overhang is not that short - I've got a front lip fixed , lagi worse.... but once u get used to it, no problem
Psfong Clutched January 19, 2006 Author Share January 19, 2006 (edited) ya, last time its as if i'm wearing sandal, now its like wearing Nike shoes now! btw, how come u stick to 215? I thought it shld be 225/50/17? Edited January 19, 2006 by Psfong
Bigtoothpick 3rd Gear January 19, 2006 Share January 19, 2006 i was concerned that with wider tyres, more rolling resistance, affects FC. But for me it is more weight and driving pattern that determines FC. i maintained the overall diameter, think mine is 215/55/17 if remember correctly. where u change ur rims? how much after trade-in? post a pic to show ?
