Kwongwing Neutral Newbie January 16, 2006 Share January 16, 2006 Hi Danieltan07, Just from the specs alone, you should at least get a power amp with a power rating of at least RMS 80 - 100WPC @4ohms. But do note that for sound, the specs alone also give u a starting point, and do not mean the end all of it all. You should think about what is currently lacking in your system - or rather how you want your system to sound like before considering and embarking on your upgrade path. Your choice of amp and eventually the sub would ultimately depend on the type of music you usually listen to, the type of sound you like, your budget of course, etc. I would suggest that you popping by one of our weekly Wednesday meet-ups so that you can sample our various set-ups to determine the type of sound you like before making any decisions. Danieltan07 Neutral Newbie January 16, 2006 Author Share January 16, 2006 thanks do i need a amp to drive the sub? or i dont need, i can use the HU to drive it? me thinking to get a amp to drive the front speakers. and a sub without amp - can?
K2000 Neutral Newbie January 17, 2006 Share January 17, 2006 an amp is definitely needed to drive a sub, you can go for a 4 channel amp, 2 channel for your front, and two channel bridged to drive your sub
Apollo 1st Gear January 17, 2006 Share January 17, 2006 get a different amp to drive the sub or an active sub
Ivan0507 Neutral Newbie January 18, 2006 Share January 18, 2006 bro,get a 4ch amp, hook up 2ch for the front component and bridge 3 and 4 ch to pump your sub.rear speaker using HU if you want.
Apollo 1st Gear January 19, 2006 Share January 19, 2006 your approach may not work if the subwoofer's demand for power is very high, esp SPL type. a separate woofer also ensures better reliability, so one down does not affect the other. rear speakers... nah. unless it is a 6" x 9"... nah. need to run on front comp only. K2000 Neutral Newbie January 19, 2006 Share January 19, 2006 but the threadstarter budget do not allow 2 amp and 1 sub, some 4 channel amp will still give around 150 to 200W RMS which is good enough to drive an entry sub.
