Removing cat converter

You will not suffer much of low end power lost, but definitely your exhaust will be louder. To go with the exhaust, it's better for you to change your air filter to cone filter one. To suck in more air.

Actually, its not that much louder, and you'll get better throttle response. There'll be a very distinct exhaust odor though, so to someone who's familar with "cars" its pretty obvious.

will removing my cat converter causes me to lose my low end power? will it make my exhaust louder?

Change the exhaust. You get a Hi flow cat with resonator. Gain both performance + its legal. [;)]

Actually, if tuning is properly done..... the odor is much, much reduced.

For cars that have more than one cat, leaving the last one behind helps to reduced odor as well as noise control.

Experienced removing both cats and replaced with one high flow cat, operated resonator & muffler, car performance thumbsup.gifthumbsup.gifthumbsup.gif. No lost in power at low end, in fact improved; car was very responsive. But damn noisy and once caught in traffic jam at causeway, engine check light appeared.

Added back another high flow cat, improvement deterioted but noise is only slightly louder than stock. Guess that's a good compromise for me.

Dyno is to measure the actual bhp & torque... Most tunning company provide this service, I think ST also have...

What he mean is that he dyno the stock exhaust bhp & torque, mod 2 hi-flows cat & go dyno again... no significant increase in bhp & torque...

Many ppl judge by feeling or anyhow b*lls*it saying 10bhp gain which is not proven, only dyno can prove & see what kind of gain/loss you have at every RPM...

I believe "BMW320i" because new cars nowaday have very well-design exhaust already... exhaust mod only can increase your car power by only very very little.

"Proper" tuning will reduce the odor, but thats if you go with a conservative tuning which defeats the whole purpose of removing the CAT anyways.

To fully that advantage of a test pipe, more will have to be done to other parts of the motor, and then tunned "agressively". If you're willing to go this route, you should not be concern with drive comfort or millage of your vehicle.

A hi-flow CAT is less restrictive than a normal CAT, but its still restrivtive. From what I know, they are not cheap, alot more than a test pipe. But if its illegal to do a test pipe and legal to do a hi-flow, then theres not much consideration left on what to do.

[thumbsup]

P.S. How many dynos are there in Spore?
