Firstcall Clutched January 6, 2006 Share January 6, 2006 first saw this product in McWell last week. It cost about $143 + $15 for installation. This product does not automatically helps FC. It is just a gimicky meter that tells you whether you have been driving economically. If you drive gradually and brake gradually over a distance, the unit will give you an calculated score. Hopefully by following the score you can achieve good FC. The way I see it, it is just using the speed signal and G-sensor to gauge how you are accelerating. (Do we really need this thing to tell us how to drive economically???) I was hoping that it has a realtime FC meter like many continental cars and some upmarket Jap cars that states km/l or l/km measurements. But it does not have. Since it can measure distance and total fuel consumption it could easily find out the FC rate by simple mathematics but I don't understand why it does'nt have one. The rest of the information like speed, distance are plain gimicks which all cars already have. If there is real time FC indicator, I would have bought it. But no, $158 for something I already have or know, nope not worth it.

Elfenstar 3rd Gear January 6, 2006 Share January 6, 2006 It only sounds like a gsensor that will tell u to keep it at 0.2gs on acceleration and tell u if you're maintaing a constant speed via the speed wire... nothing much more that that... I think the reason that it cannot work like the inbuilt FC meters to tell u what the consumption is like is coz different cars consume different amounts of fuel (partially from the fuel maps, partially from the displacement) so it will vary between different models. BMW320i Neutral Newbie January 7, 2006 Share January 7, 2006 Mcwell advertised for $138 on straits time today. For $138, I'll rather use it for petrol with a remaining $30 for me to purchase some Lays potato chips.

Rustyz 5th Gear January 7, 2006 Share January 7, 2006 (edited) Share my experince with a similar thing...which work as they say...It is a very good equiment...but u have to be a good driver to keep as constant speed as possible...I got tired of it...Everytime see it so hard pain it reminds me how much $$$ am I burning at the rate of driving...HEART PAIN... U don't really need the machine as long as u have a gentle start off and constant speed will do. Edited January 7, 2006 by Rustyz
