S'PORE INSURANCE COS PAY OUT S$3 MLN FOR CARS STOLEN/MISSING IN M'SIA SINGAPORE, Jan 3 (Bernama) -- Insurance companies in Singapore are said tohave paid out more than S$3 million (RM6.6 million) in compensation the last twyears for cars from the republic reported to have gone missing or stolen inMalaysia. The insurance companies have given a figure of 150 for the number of carsregistered in the island nation and either reported missing or stolen in theneighbouring country in the two-year period, a report in the country's soleMalay paper, Berita Harian, said today. Among the cars have been sports utility vehicles, multipurpose vehicles, aswell as luxury cars such as Mercedes Benz and BMW. Senior manager of claims for NTUC Income, Freddy Neo, was reported in thearticle as saying that there were 123 claims of cars being stolen throughout thperiod. NTUC Income provides insurance coverage to about 280,000 vehicles or 40percent of all cars registered in the republic. -- BERNAMA

Because other people claim so they must increase the insurance to cover their lost
