Honda_insane Neutral Newbie December 29, 2005 Share December 29, 2005 Hi, i'm quite new to car modding....just curious to know wat do VAFC and SAFC used for? Is it a good item for an auto car..me driving honda jazz? ↡ Advertisement
Ltcy Clutched December 29, 2005 Share December 29, 2005 Both VAFC and SAFC are for tuning of your Air/Fuel ratio. VAFC is for Vtec cars. So, your Honda Jazz should be using the VAFC.
XLR8 1st Gear December 29, 2005 Share December 29, 2005 For hondas use VAFC, others SAFC can liao cos no need the vtec function. You can actually lean our your A/F mixture and set your vtec wild cam to open earlier or later. If your jazz is not the vtec version then SAFC for you. Honda_insane Neutral Newbie December 29, 2005 Author Share December 29, 2005 so does u mean it make yr car more responsive and use yr fuel more efficient? getting one will mean u need to send yr car for some tuning, rite?
Koren Clutched December 29, 2005 Share December 29, 2005 tune you car according to the power ratio.. u'll feel the difference.. for jazz.. you should get the SAFC as it doesnt have vtec..

Vblaster_w211 2nd Gear December 31, 2005 Share December 31, 2005 (edited) The most increase in performance, and perhaps for some, FC, is if you've modded some parts of the Intake/Header/Exos before tuning with the likes of SAFC or VAFC (now VAFCII). For e.g., with a better air intake, the engine is able to breath and rev easier. The air fuel mixture would also need to be adjusted so it's not too rich or lean (which leads to engine damage via pinging). If you use a CAI, the burn is also likely to be more efficient as well since a cooler mixture has less loss in power. If your car is totally stock, you may or may not benefit from SAFC/VAFC, or even better ECU tuning like eManage or FCon series. Some benefits could be derived if your car is tuned too conservatively in the first place, i.e. too rich so as to prevent any pinging - car manufacturer playing it safe. Lastly, the skill of tuner is most important. For eManage/FCon etc, performance maps must be customised to your car and level of tuning. Look out for those that will actually dyno their tuning results, along with special listening tools to hear for pinging at various driving revs. Edited December 31, 2005 by Vblaster_w211
