Elfenstar 3rd Gear December 27, 2005 Share December 27, 2005 (edited) look at the block near the exahaust manifold (a bit to the left and down of the exhaust manifold). there will be a small polished plate that has exactly what engine model it is engraved. If you're worried that its fake, look around the said plate for weld marks. there should be none. I dun want to worry u but the main difference in the b16 engines is the head, so if someone sells u a b16a4 block with a b16a2 head, chances are u wouldnt know unless u open the head. Fsrkia Neutral Newbie December 27, 2005 Author Share December 27, 2005 if he does that i being cheated of 10 hp!! what is an engine head?
Elfenstar 3rd Gear December 27, 2005 Share December 27, 2005 the head/top is anything above the headgasket where the cams, valves etc are. the bottom or block is below that where the sump, pistons etc are. although both are very unlikely, u never know, you might have a b16b head on the b16a
Fsrkia Neutral Newbie December 27, 2005 Author Share December 27, 2005 (edited) i think a b16a4 head isnt worth that much also... unless its b18 head the engine number is engraved to the head or the block? Edited December 27, 2005 by Fsrkia
Elfenstar 3rd Gear December 27, 2005 Share December 27, 2005 always on the block. and thats regardless of manufacturer.
Fsrkia Neutral Newbie December 27, 2005 Author Share December 27, 2005 so the block or the head is more important huh?
Elfenstar 3rd Gear December 27, 2005 Share December 27, 2005 its like asking whether your heart or lungs are more important both are equally important, but in different ways. ↡ Advertisement
