Recommended Posts

1) Shampoo (NXT)

2) Claybar (Soft99)

3) Rinse

4) Polish (#80, depending on panel's condition, 2-4 passes with cutting/polishing pads)

5) Glaze(#7, polishing pad)

6) 2 coats of wax (#16, finishing pad)

7) Final wipe with detailing spray(#34 with MF towel).

 

Yet to apply dressing on the exterior trims and tyres. [smash]

Having lots of ice cold water helps to quench the thirst. [laugh]

 

Will be doing my mum's car next week, will have to use a more aggressive polish/light compound if the cutting pad can't fix it. [dead]

where did u buy the pads ar? and how much do they cost? is it really worth it polishing ourselves? [:p]

 

The 6.5" Meguiar's foam pad cost about $20 each, I got it from the local distributor Hypercoat. I prefer DIY cos' I can pay more attention to the details and the feeling afterwards is shiok! [laugh]

 

The initial investment is quite high but the pads and machine can last quite awhile. :)

aniwae.. how does the cutting pad work? wun it create more swirl marks? [sweatdrop]

 

my car has lots of swirlmarks.. wondering how to remove them..

i believe ppl who do their own detailing wun care abt the price....it's their passion to do it.....price confirm cheaper if u diy, tat is in the long run.....

Unlike wool pads, foams pads are pretty safe and won't leave additional swirls onto the finish. The difference between a cutting, polishing and finishing pad is mainly its cell structure and 'stiffness'.
