Besides the obvious dirt, there's still some light swirl marks and scratches.

I wanted to try Trade Secret on on it but one part was recently repainted so I had to stick with body shop safe products.

Process:

Wash

Clay

Powergloss/W-7006/1200 rpm

OCP/W-8006/Orbital

FK1 #2180 - this stuff is quite thick, maybe a little more than NXT, so took a little more effort to apply. Still came off easily and and quite slick but was looking a touch plasticky to me so I applied some FX-100 spray wax. This stuff was just a tad easier to use than OCW. Not as slick or reflective but gave a really deep and wet shine.

Finished off with #425

For the interior:

Natural Look on trim

Pinnacle leather cleaner/conditioner followed with conditioner on leather

#425 on woodgrain

Engine bay was sprayed with Simple Green 5:1, rinsed, dried and dressed with 303

#425 on exterior glass

Stoner Trim Shine on wheel wells

Mothers FX spray wax on wheels

Poorboys BnB on tyres

Neutral Newbie

The paint work sure looks great after the detail, shiny and very reflective with good depth too. The engine bay definately looks brand new [thumbsup] .

Great job on the car, love that engine bay! [inlove]

Don't dare to wash the engine bay yet, my dad will kill me if anything goes wrong. [knife]

BTW, are German paints harder to work with?

Thanks. I definitely liked the amount of depth I got from FX-100, and #425 gave it that extra something.

The engine bay was a walk in the park compared to polishing the ceramiclear.

And nope, it's not my car. I probably won't have the urge to drive a lux-o-barge like that for another 25 years.

Looks good T, love the engine bay.

I'm planning to get some FK1 stuff this Jan, would you recommend #2180? Anydurability report? Btw have you tried pink wax too? Any good.

Not sure about durability atm, this was the first time I used it. From what I've read online, 3-4 months shouldn't be a problem.

I would recommend getting the sample pack from FK1. You can also request sample bottles of #215 and #216. They might have other products as well, I'm not sure.

I haven't tried #2685 yet. [:|]

jus a quick question, the MB's engine bay, anything to take note when cleaning it?

it looks pretty much covered up...

Wanting to use my dad's E200 as practice for engine bay detailing [sly]

I had Poorboy's trim restorer lying around , it doesn't have the durability that I need for the trim. So I was thinking since I already have it , might as well use it. I put some of mf applicator pad, then saw the word combustible at the back of the bottle..ummm better not. I was going to use autoglym bumper care as it really lasts and darkens my trim..umm this one also flammable and contains petroleum distillates [sweatdrop][sweatdrop]

I wouldn't worry about it. If you apply Trim Restorer and buff it off, it's not going to catch fire. I spilled some engine oil on the engine once and while it smoked, there was no fire at all.

If you're that paranoid, there are some water-based dressings, or you could even use UPP.
