Most silent tyre

So far, each time I had to change tyres, I've gone to the Bridgestone Turanzas. Tried both the 50s and the 80s. Have to say, they're very quiet with excellent grip. Prior to choosing the Turanza 80s, I had read several articles and they all rated the 80s very highly. In my case, used the 80s for about 2 1/2 years and even after that period, with about 40k of usage, still very quiet.

mine is bridestone potenza leh... very noisy... like surround system like that..

I just replaced my stock Michelin Energys with Yokohama AVS dBs. (not to confuse with aspec and dna dB). Driving a Focus Mk1 like you, stock tire profile.

After 1000km (jus returned from M'sia), i find the AVS dBs to be much quieter than the Michs or Falken ST115 which i had on another ride. Comfort is good, considering the Focus's slightly stiffer suspension/dampers.

Steering feel is definately better than the Michs, and grip is quite good (tested on the twisties on a rainy day up Cameron highlands). This is where the AVS dB differs from the supposedly aquaplan prone Aspec dB. Not as good as the ST115s (cuts thru water like a hot knife thru butter !), but not bad at all.

I believe both GR80 and AVS dB have good reviews from fellow focus drivers in the local forum.

Bro,

Thanks for your reply. Glad to hear that the GR80 and AVS dB have served our fellows well. :) What's the damage for changing the full set of tyres to AVS dBs?

been hearing alot on hankook tyres.. are they any good??

They are relatively cheap tyres with above average performance. I am using the K104 for more than a year now and still have much tread in them.

oh so u noe robert too thats good. then don need me to recommend liao. haha ok..wasnt realli interested in the models..after starting playing with cars and ice, somehow lost interest in the hot sexy stuff...hee, but i guess its because i keep telling myself, im not good enuff for hot girls, so no pt dreaming:P

anyway, hankook has been in sgp for a long time yes, but in the earlier days, their main customer groups were the lorries and trucks industries. its only recently that they step up efforts in the cars market.

Hi Flanker

I am using the ASPEC DB tyres too. Mine is 205/50/R16.

Initially after I put them on. I felt quite irritable by the rumbing sound. Especially at the higher speed, 90km/h and above.

Finally, I went for high speed balancing and wheel alignment. After that...viola!!!!

The quietness just came in....

I was told that the high speed tyres balancing also considered the wheel shafts.

You may want to consider trying that to optimise your DB's performance.

Cheers
