Car_guru Neutral Newbie February 4, 2003 Share February 4, 2003 RainX on the windscreen will cause the wipers to judder as it's some sort of wax to clear away the water... that's why it's best to use RainX on the rear windscreen and your windows, not on the front windscreen. Blackford Neutral Newbie February 4, 2003 Author Share February 4, 2003 My Wipers are already Jubbering and it is new... Wonder if the cleaning solution used by Shell when you top up fuel has wax in them too.. Maybe that is what causes the Jubbering
Assassin Clutched February 5, 2003 Share February 5, 2003 I'm using Rain-X for all my windscreens and windows....no problems with juddering. Always remember to spray some water and wipe over again after application of the Rain-X or else you will experience some juddering. Cheers
E36UDM Neutral Newbie February 5, 2003 Share February 5, 2003 Effectively its a wax, it will still cause 'chattering' expecially when light rain. But your method of applying water might dilute it so causing less chattering
Jazziegirl Clutched February 5, 2003 Share February 5, 2003 yup yup, same here for our car. no prob. also when the rain is neither here nor there, like droplets on windscreen obscuring view but not heavy rain kind (i'm terrible at describing!) we use the wiper with the spray thing so that it 'wets' the screen firstloh, supposed to help keep the wiper in good condition, else the friction... u know lah. Assassin Clutched February 5, 2003 Share February 5, 2003 Yep, thats what I do also.
Assassin Clutched February 5, 2003 Share February 5, 2003 (edited) If its light rain, I'll wash it with the washer fluid when I switch on my wipers to 'clean' it a bit to prevent the 'chattering'. Edited February 5, 2003 by Assassin
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie February 6, 2003 Share February 6, 2003 I believe autoglym only has windscreen washer additive or glass polish so that won't induce much beading. Rain-x is preferable for the windows except the windscreen as it causes wiper judders and hazing in many cases.
Blackford Neutral Newbie February 6, 2003 Author Share February 6, 2003 So Rain X is recommended for other windows except the front... Thanks for the info, glad I hear out the comments before making another implusive buy
Gadgeter 2nd Gear February 10, 2003 Share February 10, 2003 (edited) There is Pro and Cons. I personally have been using RainX for the past 4-5 years, still using it and loves it. I applied it on my front, rear and side windows. I mix the pink solution (from RainX, but can't remember what is it called)with water, for my wiper solution. Used the RainX Cleaner to clean the wind screen first before applying the RainX. Edited February 10, 2003 by Gadgeter
