The bosch machine should be good enough for your maintenance purpose and I definately will not advise you to use a rotary on your car until you have PLENTY of practise on a scrape bonnet.

You can refer to the posting by bro Odyssey02, who manage to remove quite a bit of swirls and scratches on his Red Citroen Berlingo with the Bosch machine.

Darn it! I should have read this thread before I bought my B&DWP600 yesterday! Arrg! This is only the first mistake!

As you can tell, Im quite the noob using a DA. May I know what the problem is with using a B&DWP600? Is it under powered?

I also went to Hypercoat today and bought 8" pads! X2 Arrgg! I thought bigger was better! haha....and that a large "footprint" would help to keep the B&DWP600 more stable.

I will be going back to Hypercoat tomorrow to change the 8" pads and buffing bonnets to 6.5" but may I also know what happens when we use the 8" sizes? Does the machine freeze? Ie not enough power to turn the backing plate?

I DIY'd the B&DWP600. I slashed the black foam off and stuck down hook velcro on the backing plate so as to be able to use hook and loop pads.

Initially I am still thinking how are you going to use the pads from Meguiar without the velcro backing plate, so you DIY liao [sly] .

If you have already change the velcro backing plate than I think the main draw back with this machine is the lack of power. To apply glaze, paint cleaner, wax or sealant you will not have problem with this machine but if you are thinking of defect removal than I think you will need something more powerful.

Personally I find the 6.5" pad works better than the 8" pad with a DA machine but you got to check the B&D machine whether can it fits the 6.5" pad.

Don worry bro, those are definately not stupid questions [shakehead] I use to have the same doubts too [:p] .

You can apply the wax onto the pad directly and for buffing off you need the MF bonnet not the buffering pad to remove the residue. The bonnet looks something like the picture below and can be obtained at Hypercoat.

bro, do you have any idea how much hypercoat is selling the MF bonnet? It comes in a pair or it is a single piece?

Thanks [:)]

Not too sure about the price and I believe it comes in a pair. It seems like there are more choice now with the new range of Gold Class accessories but not too sure whether avaluable in Singapore.

The only stock Hypercoat has is the 8" bonnets at about S$6 per pc per packet. They told me that this is the only one they bring in (Laksmi told me that one size fits all). Strange...maybe they have decided not to bring in the 6" ones anymore...best to check with them again.

Bro Gen2, or some other kind soul...can you please help me to do a rough measurement on the 6.5" pad and let me know how large is the velcro backing on the pad? The B&D has a 5"+ backing plate, just want to make sure that the velcro on the pad is larger than the backing plate. Thanks for your help bros and sis!

The polishing pad W8006 can be used with #80 or #83 to remove light to moderate swirls and a finishing pad W9006 is used more for applying glaze or LSP, not much cutting involved.

Hi bro Johnliow, I do not have the pad with me now, if the backing plate of the B&D is 5" plus than I think the 6.5" pad should fit just nice.

hi gen2,

i intend to get the Bosch 270..

read and understand that i'll need to velcro the polishing pads to this machine, wat exactly does this mean? is it to attach velcro on the machine plate so that the pads can stay in place? do i need to put velcro on the pad as well ?

if i'm getting JW products, will Black & Decker WP600 be sufficient for me? my intention is to maintain shine.. nothing major to repair.. jus the usual light swirl marks...

i've been using just my bare hands n off-the-shelf products like autoglym n blackmagic.. its too tiring n i'm spending way too much time on detailing [bigcry] ..

sorry for the newbie qns..
