Kax2 Neutral Newbie November 30, 2005 Share November 30, 2005 I thought higher octane means it will burn slower but cleaner cos the spark plugs are retarded sometimes.
Dwoon 1st Gear November 30, 2005 Share November 30, 2005 Been using Malaysian V-Power for the past 1 year..... no problems so far. (Of course mix with about 10 trs of Sgp Esso 98 over the weekend so to make the 3/4 tank mark when I go in on Monday) But if you've noticed..... the power seems to be better when mixed with regular 98 RON petrol, rather than used solely on its own. Don't ask me why..... I also dunno..... what I know is that its cheaper than our local 92 RON. :P
Nissy Neutral Newbie November 30, 2005 Share November 30, 2005 How come we both follow the same style, I always mix Vpower and Synergy 8000. Good FC and power but poor me, use both SG petrol and so pay higher...
Sotongcat 1st Gear November 30, 2005 Share November 30, 2005 (edited) Same. Mixed VPower with Syn8000 half half. More milleage plus engine quieter when compared to using Syn8000 alone. But if use Vpower only, needle drop very fast. 2003Corolla. Edited November 30, 2005 by Sotongcat
Dwoon 1st Gear November 30, 2005 Share November 30, 2005 Well, you can go over the causeway at 3/4 tank to pump on V-power mah...... save more.... But not now or during December...... the causeway jam damn terrible now. Friday kena 3 hours, Monday kena 2.5 hours, yesterday kena 2 hours..... hopefully today not so chialat if the trend is correct.
Brizzy Neutral Newbie November 30, 2005 Share November 30, 2005 Am urrently using mixture of 98 and V-Power, good combi of FC + Power + Burning Rate of Pocket Hole
Yc86 Clutched November 30, 2005 Share November 30, 2005 (edited) what's the RON of V-power? heard that its the same 98 but with extra additives inside... anyone can confirm? btw i'm using straight V-power. but i feel the engine is better than using straight 98, lesser vibrations and knocks.. nv try mixing though... thought of adding boosters to every tank but scared the car get used to it then V-power no use liao Edited November 30, 2005 by Yc86
Nissy Neutral Newbie November 30, 2005 Share November 30, 2005 There are 3 stations in the same line near my work place, an SPC, followed by Shell, followed by ESSO. Sometimes I go to this SPC to wash car as the service is quite okay then follow on to Shell to pump Vpower for $20 and then follow on to ESSO to pump upto full tank. If someone watches me, they may think I am crazy and may wonder why I visit 3 different stations at one shot. he he he... what to do..
Nissy Neutral Newbie November 30, 2005 Share November 30, 2005 Vpower is also RON 98, but it's better than the normal formula 98. Vpower is almost the same fuel used for F1 racing
Dwoon 1st Gear November 30, 2005 Share November 30, 2005 If your fuel tank is big.... even pumping in JB going in at the 3/4 mark can mean substantial savings. Average of say $1/ltr saving.... pump 20 ltr = Sing $20 savings.... If no jam.... at either causeway.... zipping in & out takes about 20 min (petrol pumping time included)... guess that's why many do it.
Ralliart Neutral Newbie November 30, 2005 Author Share November 30, 2005 i too have been pumping caltex from jb but i can feel alot of diff after 3days of using V power.now i m divided as to whether to solely use only V power or mix it with Shell 98.coz if i pumping in jb its better tat i put V power as i get value for money right?btw wat is meant by RON? Ralliart Neutral Newbie November 30, 2005 Author Share November 30, 2005 how much is it for shell 98 n Vpower in spore?when i put v power in msia it was 1.78/L.

Dwoon 1st Gear November 30, 2005 Share November 30, 2005 RON= Research Octane number. Unless you can always go into JB to pump petrol... my suggestion is to pump V-Power whenever you go in. Then when you have no time to go in, just pump 98 RON in Singapore (or to make up the 3/4 tank before you go in). I've no idea as to what is the correct mix of V-Power + 98 RON petrol.... just that I've been mixing "out of circumstances" and its something I realised. Brizzy Neutral Newbie November 30, 2005 Share November 30, 2005 V-Power ard $1.64/L and 98 is ard $1.58/L if u use V-Power all the way (no mixture), it's quite good smoother ride, cleaner engine & less noise(well at least that holds true to my car). read somewhere that V-Power is actually RON98 + additives, so the higher the RON, the slower it burns.... Dwoon 1st Gear November 30, 2005 Share November 30, 2005 How much you can squeeze in depends on your car make & model. For myself, I have a 60 ltr tank..... at the 3/4 mark when I go in, I can pump from 18 to 20 ltrs. I have a friend who can put in about 24 ltr for a quarter tank..... I take 20 ltrs as an average. Ralliart Neutral Newbie November 30, 2005 Author Share November 30, 2005 mayb i will do e same.coz gold is RM1.61/L so rather pay abit more to get better output ↡ Advertisement
