Power windows of Punto & Panda

Hello fellow fiat owners,

 

Does anyone has any idea why the punto and panda does not come with rear power windows?

 

I noticed my colleague's renault magane HB also like that. issit the price or is there any special reason? the bigger CC fiat car comes with full power windows.

 

I am eyeing the punto, will be test driving his weekend.

i dont know the reason myself but i suspect its cost. anyway, looking on the bright side, u have one less gizmo to be concerned abt when it goes haywire. have fun with yr test drive. u may want to test the panda too just to do a comparison.

the good thing is the replacing if spoiled

 

and if you got kids , its a bit hard to open all of a sudden? (issit true?)

My understanding from my SE, is that if....and if your car flip over and bungee jump into Kallang river, what you can do is wait for all the water to enter the car....take a deep breath and 'swim' to the rear seat and unwind the window mechanically.....that way you can get out of the car without actually holding your breath and wait for the divers to get to you.....sound logical....or maybe it is some cost cutting measures....anyway....no qualms about it...since most of time the rear window are up!!! only driver side need to come down to insert CashCard....

Not sure why, but since I'm in the driver's seat most of the time, I don't give a damn

My previous car, a Skoda Fabia also did not have power windows at the back.

 

This is a good thing as VAG cars are notorious for their power window regulators, had to pay $400 to replace one

 

Anyway, nobody has ever opened the Fabia's back windows or even the current Punto's so I don't see it as a disadvantage

 

To me, it's more like, nobody ever uses it so why bother to put something there that will add to costs

Thank you for all your inputs!The reason why I ask was because I feel that with all the neat gadgets in the punto, I was quite disappointed why no power window at the rear. The SE reply me that smaller cars in Europe travel faster and are more prone to accidents, thus the power window comes in handy when an accident happens and you need to get out of the car.

 

Still I am not very convince as I suspect cost might be a major factor. I also thought it may be some requirement from the Euro NCAP safety rating which I was wrong.

 

If anyone else knows any other version of the story, do enlighten me.

first version of 146 come with factory fit power window, all 4

later change to local fit power window,all 4

last batch come with local fit window but only the front......cut COST LAH!

first gotta wait for the air bag to depress. Than unbuckle the seat belt. Than slowly turn the seat front driver seat incline knob to place the driver seat to a sleeping position. Than "swim" to the back seat and unwind the mechanical window. Just joking. I think it's more for cost cutting measure.

yea, yr feeling is understandable. its like having a beautiful gal with something missing, whatever tat is! anyway, if i really like the car, this is one of the things im willing to overlook. it may sound wierd, but i actually like cars with less gizmos. if i had my way, no power windows for the front too. just give me great bhp and chassis. but these kinds of cars very expensive (think lotus e.g.)
