Have read so much on the following tyres:

1. KUMHO 712

2. BFG GFS

3. Yoko ES100

4. Pirelli Dragon

5. Bridgestone GR80

Just wanted to do a mini survey based on brothers experience here.

In terms of dry grip, wet grip, cornering response/comfort, handling, which one wins in each category?

Of course, price plays a part too :)

GR80s are premium comfort tyres. The rest are all more of performance tyres. Comfort and noise of this tyre surely superior. Dry Grip and Handling surely worse than the rest. Should but in Bridgestone G3 into the group instead.

My comments- Personally I use BFG GFS, the grip is excellent for dry/wet road. Cornering is stable. however a little noise due to its high performance characteristics.

Ic. Also between BFG GFS and GR80, am i right to say:

BFG GFS = higher noise lvl, wears out faster, better grip

GR80 = Lower noise lvl, higher life span, grip not as gd

Is this correcct?

Also I understand that BFG is made in thailand now? Does it make any difference where the tires are made? if so, how to compare both tire?

thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong, all along, the Singapore BFG tyre is from Thai.

GR80 is more of a comfort tyre. Lesser noise with reasonable grip.

BFG has superior wet, dry grip, plus cornering stability and sterring response it good. The trade-off factor is the noise. But... who cares, a 15" cost you only $75/pc

I have no experience with other tyres, but i can show you mine, if you show me yours [:p]

These are my BFG GFS @ 2000km and 2 track sessions.

You can PM Linus also, his is also BFG GFS but with much more mileage and also 2 track sessions

Me will only be getting my car next week. :p will trade in my tires immediately and change my rims and tires. That's y need to decide fast. BFG GFS wet conditions is gd also? Wonder will the noise from tires be as noisy as ES100.

:)

thanks

For BFG and ES100, dry grip for dry is about the same. Wet BFG is better than ES100. But in terms of cornering stability and steering response, BFG is much better. Price also better! Haha

wa...jus drive a while first la!

What car you're driving?

BFG is indeed a bit noisy, but i don't care! [laugh]

If handling/grip and cost are priority over comfort and noise, BFG is the way to go!

Ok! guess BFG GFS is the choice! he ehee...

But how much cheaper is it compared to ES100? example maybe for both of 16" or both of 17"?

hey, was faced with the same dilemma when I was choosing the tyres.

From what i know,

F1GSD is more expensive, wears faster. But it has more grip in wet or dry

GFS is more hard wearing and is less expensive.

In the end, cost being of priority to me (see signature), chose GFS lor.. [laugh]

For 17" not too sure, but for 15 and 16", about $15-20 and $25-30 per piece difference respectively.

Bro, Eng Wah at Toa Payoh selling at very good price, better than what Bro IMUYA mentioned. Give them a call at 62500085.

If not, give me a call at 96779494, I speak to them for you.
