Tploh Clutched November 25, 2005 Share November 25, 2005 Depends on what services and what parts. What do you have in mind ? Somethings are cheaper to get it done in SG than MY.
Accent01leo Neutral Newbie November 26, 2005 Author Share November 26, 2005 how about just normal servicing and wheel balancing?
Sei_fei_loh 1st Gear November 26, 2005 Share November 26, 2005 normal servicing is almost the same.. but if replacing of parts, some are cheaper.. wheel balancing is definitely cheaper.. RM$5 / tyre.. 4 tyres = RM$20 / 2.2 = S$9+ Alignment and high speed also cheaper.. i just did alignment + balancing + tyre rotation = RM$50+ or RM60+... cant rem vividly

Tploh Clutched November 26, 2005 Share November 26, 2005 If tyre, <= 15" then MY is cheaper. If >= 16" then SG is cheaper.
Accent01leo Neutral Newbie November 26, 2005 Author Share November 26, 2005 what kind of brand for the tyres?
Pisces69 6th Gear November 26, 2005 Share November 26, 2005 I think the Made in MY tires r cheaper only. Imported tires cost less in SG. Why don't u try pxx xxxg? Justin can answer all your questions & has very good prices for new & 2nd hand rims & tires. Ask him to recommend something. Just b prepared to join the queue. That already tells u how popular he is. Pisces69 6th Gear November 26, 2005 Share November 26, 2005 I don't really trust the made in MY tires. Cheap but no good.
Tploh Clutched November 27, 2005 Share November 27, 2005 MY produces domestically tyres for its Proton / Perodua cars which use mostly <= 15" tyre. Thus they are cheaper. For >=16" tyres, they are imported and subject to import duty. In addition, these are not the mainstream tyres, they are price at premium. So SG is cheaper for >= 16" tyres. Tploh Clutched November 27, 2005 Share November 27, 2005 Then be careful that new cars from agents may use MY or Thai made tyres as stock tyres. ( BMW and Merc are being made in China nowadays. Wonder if they are any good ? )
Accent01leo Neutral Newbie November 27, 2005 Author Share November 27, 2005 how about doing a normal engine oil servicing using shell helix ultra there? including changing of spark plugs? any idea how much is cost?
Nightfalls Neutral Newbie November 27, 2005 Share November 27, 2005 (edited) Will it be cheaper if I go servicing or repair at malaysia?Anyone have any idea roughly how much can be saved? :P I only know the workshop beside the 'ta ma' market. most spares ( imported goods ) are cheaper in SG..that includes rims tire audio system.... labor is cheap there..but also remember good things generally dun come cheap! basic things like servicing there can suffice.... but major repairs when going to their authorized agents lets say Honda..like Yong Ming... the charges comes to almost the same...but doing it in Singapore gives you a peace of mind that we are somehow protected by the law if the vendor short change us....but there what can u do if they play punk with u??? normal servicings oil change brake pad change easy jobs i go JB.... remember when u bring in spares to JB...it subjected to taxes...u can dun declare and try luck but somtimes short of it...end up pay coffee money to the customs officers... so far for alignment..yes JB cheap...but after alignment the alignment still out one...so after many attempts at different workshops from JB..i give up i paid more in SG to do a good job.. remember the roads in JB are filled with potholes...maybe the people there have never enjoyed a well alignment vehicle other than maybe less than 10 mins of a new ride....
