thumbsup.gifnod.gifI was amazed when JC said this:

"Put simply, I loved it. When it was here, I drove nothing else. The Mercedes SL, the Volvo XC90, all the other test cars, they all just sat on the drive as I bombed hither and thither in my new best friend."

Hello, ever the SL was left sitting on the driveway. wink.gif

3 adult of average size in the rear seat is a wee bit cramp but comfortable. In fact you can try it out at the show room. I was pleasantly surprise when I took a friend along and invited the SE to seat in the rear with us prior to my purchase. [:)][:)][:)] try squeezing the SE for 3M mat and v-cool (got my reservation about the solar tinted glass that comes along with it.) [lipsrsealed][lipsrsealed]

Oh, remembeer to get your SE assurance that if your headlight has condensation,(even if a little bit and goes off after a few days) it is to be replace and not blow dry for you than re seal as it doesn't work. [sly][sly]

Go for the Panda. You won't regret it. [:)][:)][:)]

I wouldn't be able to resist looking at a thread with a title like this, wouldn't I? wink.gif

I believe there was a little review on the Fiat Panda 4x4 on Fifth Gear not too long ago. It was put in a slippery muddy off-road course against a Range Rover with all that jazzed up differential electronics and air suspensions.

Of cos the Panda didn't win. But they did make a mention about the price difference, considering it accomplished that terrain successfully.

It has short front and rear overhangs, cheap and handy, which makes it excellent to own whether you're living in an Amazon jungle, or a concrete jungle.

Yes I'll like to buy it, just because its a Panda. In black and white please. nod.gif

it can , but better half [gorgeous] seems to be sold on the punto .. [lipsrsealed]

and since i prefer not to let banks earn off me much. [flowerface] I would go for the a bigger share of downpayment so of coz the panda is preferred wallet-wise [nod]

but haven't test leh , better try then see how [sunny]

Last season There was a JC in a Panda versus a marathon runner during a busy London morning. The marathon runner won by half an hour but JC praised the Panda for being such a good drive and this was considered the 2nd review by Top Gear after James May did it some time back and also praised the Panda for being a good drive, reliable, downright honest/not pretentious.

If I were to buy one, I would get a manual gearbox with the sunroof and no leather seats please. [nod]

Ya, unfortunately no manual version. The sunroof is a few thousand more but worth every penny of it since you will definitely get a good deal out of it. [thumbsup]

yes, even schumacher has driven the panda 4 x 4. but then, he's sponsored by fiat. still, it says quite alot abt the car. for more info on fiats, can read autoitalia mag, available at most bkstores.

This was my impression of the panda when i test drove it. i share JC's sentiments. The car's fun to drive. i thought the punto was great though i wasn't thrilled about the cvt. So the SE asked if i wanted a 2nd test drive on the panda. i couldn't resist.

before i moved off, i was expecting typical corolla, sunny kinda sluggish feel. now i know they're probably faster but they always felt slow and boring to me till i can't tell the difference between taking a bus except that one saves you alot more money and the other one rips your wallet but travels faster.

anyway, the interior was pleasing enough so no complaints. i moved off and the first fun part was the gearbox which to me is alot more engaging than a cvt. but that's my driving style, i need to feel the gears moving. on standing starts, i floored the throttle and was amazed how quickly it got off the line and as usual, that typical italian engine note. it certainly didn't feel slow. after all, its a light car.

as the journey progressed, i just enjoyed the dualogic so much that i couldn't see myself getting a cvt punto then even if it looks better. my overall impression was that this panda makes it the ldeal city car. to be honest, it has much more character than any other jap city cars and best part is, it doesn't cost more.

when it came decision time, one of the biggest minuses is there's no manual gearbox. the dualogic is fun but not so fun on the wallet when it's time to replace the actuators and pump. the cvt is sterile and way too smooth for me. As mentioned in the review, JC drove a manual. That's the driving trend in Europe in case you still don't know. Whether city or country, most drive manual. so with all this in mind, i settled on the 147 1.6 as an opc. Hell, i work just a few streets away and a car is pretty pointless for me except that an Alfa Romeo has melted my defences for years. I may convert it to a normal car in the future but at the moment $150 road taxes and 17k discounts are too enticing. The best part is, i got a manual gearbox to play with. I took my mother's advice. Either buy a panda as it's fun and cheap. Or u go the other extreme and get an Alfa which will make me drool whenever i look at it and trick me into thinking im on a ferrari whenever i drive it. Not getting any younger, this was probably my last chance to own an Alfa and i seized it. Still, the choice would be a panda if its a Fiat.

nice read [thumbsup]

i think really the thing that make pple think twice about the panda is the maintenance of the duologic [sweatdrop]

but still the character of the panda overcomes all and from what i hear and read..

it is still a enticing drive(even when i never tried one..) [sunny]

Hows the alfa now ? [gorgeous]
