Icekitten Clutched December 31, 2005 Share December 31, 2005 Maybe I can share my experience. My virgin ride was in a resort island in Thailand, I was there with my wife for honeymoon. We rented a bike to explore the island. We had fun for half a day, but later I was too adventurous and "kup" a corner too low. The road was sandy, and the bike skidded down a ditch. I literally went "flying" on the ground, with my wife on me. The ordeal was made worse when it rained heavily while we were riding back to our resort. (Fresh wounds + heavy rain). Managed to get medical treatment along the way. We got the bike repaired, returned it, and rented a jeep instead. I signed up for my bike lessons a week after we returned to SG. Perhaps it was ur first experience of the thrill that a bike can give. However crashing in SG is different. There are so many cars on the road that if you crash, it's almost sure you're going to be a goner. Even if you dun get seriously injured when u hit the ground, cars which cannot brake in time will run you over. My accident was on the expressway in SG, and I skidded towards the kerb side of the road. The realisation of what might have happened if I have fallen the other way instead hit me hard. I don't think I'd be here writing this today. Dun mean to dampen anyone's dreams, but just to share what I've been through so ppl can make their decisions with a more determined mind. For me, with my own family and kids, what I want is no longer the most important. It'll probably be different if one is single and has no dependents. Zealot Neutral Newbie December 31, 2005 Share December 31, 2005 (edited) yeah.. he agreed to letting me take the license.. i took a long time persuading him.. is more than words that I used.. I had to prove to him that I am sensible enough to take care of myself... even though I know that it not only depends on me, but other road users.. but i had to do my fair share before I could talk about others... good for you......did you know there were 94 fatal accidents involving motorbikes/pillions versus 24 for motorcar in the year 2004? you can be the safest rider in the world but others are not....this reminds me of my old camp mate...10 yrs ago while doing our NS he was driving a motorbike..and since doing NS a lot of free time to tok, and we got around to toking about his bike....i told him...don't you feel it's dangerous riding a bike? he said "oh dont worry , i'm a very safe driver"....after we ROD , 2 yrs later i happended to be at Tan Tock seng hospital...and i saw my old camp mate again...this time his entire leg left was plastered....i asked him what happended...he said a car banged into his bike causing him to lose control....and got flung out...leg leg broken..... Oh another camp mate also was driving a Aprilla sportsbike....halfway thru NS got into accident at sheares bridge..last i heard b4 i ROD he was still in a COMA. To me everytime you go on the road with your bike, you get a FREE Lottery Ticket as well. Edited December 31, 2005 by Zealot

Superblackbox Neutral Newbie December 31, 2005 Share December 31, 2005 you need to get 2B first, then can ride bikes of capacity 200cc or lessthen after 1 year of passing 2B can enrol for 2A and then the same for Class 2 Class 2A- 201-400cc Class 2-any capacity I spent about 600+ for the whole course at SSDC. Riding for the past 10 yrs has taught me a lot of things. but just to share with u. Riding a bike.. one must be prepare to get hurt. Only different is minor or serious. Nt to dampen yur spirits but this is the truth U r careful, other ppl nt careful. Back to sq 1. If u need any help, always free to ask me. I knw many who has left cause of accident, Just recently 2 dudes has hand in thier ic on Christmas day. After passing yur licence, its more adviseable to get a scooter or a street bike. Sports bike has a different riding style compare to the bikes u ride in the learning centres. And doing U turn is nt easy cause of a shorter angle for tuning. . All the best !!!
