Sweeney 4th Gear November 19, 2005 Share November 19, 2005 THANK YOU THANK YOU! Yup! Just committed meself to more years of serfdom to my Fiat IDEA! 2nd test drive today confirmed my for this italian babe! Took the longest test-drive ever. Up and down the Kaki Bukit 'highway' and back down to Paya Lebar airbase. Played with the duologic all the way. Along the way, turned on the lights, fiddled all the switches, aircon, practised rapid acceleration, engine-brake on downslope, U-turns, roudabouts, deliberately onto roads with granite chips (easy to find these on Paya Lebar ) and deliberately not-upshift to feel how the engine sounds when dragged etc. Verdict- passed with flying colours! Noise insulation was good, acceleration acceptable (1.1tons with 1.4L engine), driving on the 195/60/15s excellent- good grip and stable (dry conditions today). Aircon super-cold. Engine braking without using left foot need to get use to! Went back, took a deep breath, sat down and work out all the sums and figures and signed 'thousands' of forms to claim (part) ownership of my Italian Mama-mia! Waaa... cannot resist... I've been absorbed into the Italian Mafia! Yummy... now to settle down to wait! Sweeney

Sweeney 4th Gear November 20, 2005 Share November 20, 2005 Thanks all, Yeah- papers signed, and if all goes well, should be driving out the IDEA by early December! oooo.... cannot wait.... Finally settled on the lagoon blue with black leather, although the beige leather is nice. That took the longest time to decide. Initially wanted the 'pareo yellow' but was advised against it by SE and his colleague who said it was a very weird shade. Guess what- the IDEA's booth is auto-open! I didn't know that! FIAT's way of doing things is really excellent. My package comes with 185/60/15 rubbers with rims, arm-rest, solar film (believe all fiats are), MP3 player. So what it effectively means is that there's really no need for after-market accessories- which is good. But, however, just read in their newsletter that the sports-kit for the IDEA is in at $1.7k! Ouch! Now... its just a waiting game.... I'm in with my Italian ! MUACK!

Sweeney 4th Gear November 20, 2005 Share November 20, 2005 Most certaintly will. I have seen one IDEA on the road... and of all things on Friday morning at Tampines. I was going to Fiat on Saturday, so I took that as a sign from heaven! All Fiats have their glass tinted, its not solar film. Oh... so does that mean it is just a 'normal' glass with tint then? Their catalogue states 'Solar Plus Tinted window'. So that's not equivalent to a solar film? Hmmm... that's sad.
Sweeney 4th Gear November 20, 2005 Share November 20, 2005 Congrat to Sweeney, Enjoy Ur ride and feedback on the FC. Thanks Bro.. will definitely. Question for everyone... on your initial run-in, did you guys use RON95 or RO98? Am thinking of using RON95. Anyone has the info on which brand gives the best mileage?
Jackson Neutral Newbie November 20, 2005 Share November 20, 2005 Still using RON95. OK FC is around 11.9 to 12.7 depending on your style. On highway, it will be much better.
Easyrider 6th Gear November 21, 2005 Share November 21, 2005 Grats bro! You probably got one of the rarest cars in Singapore now but by no means the least... A friend who drives an Alfa recommended Mobil/Esso so I just stuck with it. I used ron 98 until the 1000 service inspection then now alternating between 98 and 95 each fillup
