Davidcks 1st Gear November 18, 2005 Share November 18, 2005 bro, thanks for the write up man. maybe can I suggest to warp the capsule with heat insulating sheets, to reduce the chance of HCL. with the specs, I could also try to DIY my own capsule liao. will update once I can find the time to do it. Cheers! ↡ Advertisement
Tanjm348 Neutral Newbie November 18, 2005 Author Share November 18, 2005 Actually Trex101 has already done it. He has already tried his but fear his brake booster may fail. So I got him a check valve & will be meeting on Sunday to try it. My capsule is still not complete need to glue the parts together. However I want to measure it out in the cat 1st before I do it. Trex101 3rd Gear November 20, 2005 Share November 20, 2005 Hey Tanjm348, thanks for your check valve. I fixed it in and it works.... brake pressure can hold for 2 pump before pressure depleted.
Tanjm348 Neutral Newbie November 20, 2005 Author Share November 20, 2005 Actually I have not done it...intend to physical see where to mix it in the car to decide the final size. However I intend to do the following. White teflon tape & PVC glue. The overlapping ends lined with silicon. Even without the silicon I think its quite ok. I actually just meet with Trex101 at 1:30pm today. Pass him a check valve to prevent sudden pressure loss if engine stalls. Compared to his my was huge, however my need to change the brass spigot to a 10mm one, after seeing his DIY capsule, my may be too small.
Davidcks 1st Gear November 20, 2005 Share November 20, 2005 I dun think the brakes would fail, I was one of those who tried the Ecotek device(now many copy cats), it is installed the same way as the capsule, except that it sucks air in. very interested to do one, only problem is to find the time and the stuffs to do it. Elfenstar 3rd Gear November 20, 2005 Share November 20, 2005 Hmmz... i'm pretty curious abt this capsule thing... How does it work??? my car had a vacuum tank linked to the back of the pleneum (factory and the only vacuum hoses that weren't connected were the brake booster, and the throttle butterfly actuator). After i removed it, the car became a lot more responsive. I'm guessing that this capsule is similar so i'm really wondering how it works.
Silverado1 Neutral Newbie November 20, 2005 Share November 20, 2005 For better finishing, get the High Temp Paint Spray ( red or Black only) from H/W store and coat the outer surface area of the capsule, paint can take up to 800 deg. F. Cost of paint abt 6 Bucks

Trex101 3rd Gear November 22, 2005 Share November 22, 2005 Feedback after 5 days of diy capsule + check valve. Power and pickup not much difference but maintain cruise speed better. Usual FC are about 250km half tank, current hit abt 300km half tank. Will monitor another 3 more tank to verify any increase in FC. Initial assessment, got potential of further FC gain. Zrun Neutral Newbie November 22, 2005 Share November 22, 2005 The brake booster uses vacuum from the intake to power your brake pedal, why you want to fool with it? Any kind of leaks will directly affect your brake. Any kind of effect caused by the capsule will directly change your brake response/feel. Everytime your foot is off the brake, there will be no change to the whole engine system with or without the capsule. The only difference is between when you step on the brake and the vaccuum build up in the capsule.
Tanjm348 Neutral Newbie November 23, 2005 Author Share November 23, 2005 agreed that's why trex101 suggested keeping the orginal line, use additional ones with a check valve. i believe it will cover the safety part. i believe the capsule acts as a addition vacuum tank allowing more braking pwr. i was told that the addition air from the tank actually leans out the fuel/air mixture. so may give you better milage. actually i did it because steel ones are too ex. just wanted to prove a pt. Zrun Neutral Newbie November 23, 2005 Share November 23, 2005 OK. Good luck. Thru experimentation we learn new stuffs. :) The leaning effect is doubtful, but if true, there's no guarantee that this effect is controlled, and the car is not too lean in all conditions. 99% of the air goes in through the main intake, hacking these accessories seems to be "digging for the bull's horn". CAI is controlled because the throttle body is controlling the air flow.
Trex101 3rd Gear November 23, 2005 Share November 23, 2005 Yah dunno how it works but it's improving my FC now. Now i thinking maybe it help lessen the load on the engine as now maintaining cruise speed is a breezes.
Genie47 1st Gear November 23, 2005 Share November 23, 2005 More solid construction in this one. This guy drives a Land Rover but didn't like the braking performance so he put in the Pug 205 vacuum pump to assist. http://www.series3.nl/vacuumpump.htm ↡ Advertisement
