Not really sure what the ranking represents or whether it applies to our market (after all I do know of a reliability listing which has Merc almost at rock bottom) but I do personally know several 307 owners, including 2 SW's (one of them with high mileage) and 1 CC (with off-white leather interior, mind you) and in general, after about 2 years of constant driving, the general reliability (I suppose that's one of your concerns) seems pretty ok - no major blow up's whatsoever, just a minor niggle or two here and there at most.

Drives pretty well, decent ride.

Hope this helps [:)]

...and why should I be ? [sly]

I'm technically a prospective buyer (read - car's in "typical" timeframe for change, as two salespersons have repeatedly told me) and I've not caused anyone grevious harm with a test drive car.

Yet.

Re-sale value...sorry not sure....just know the selling px of the car is $65.8K....was wondering should i be worried about buying this

1. do owners sell after less then 10 mths usuall(car was first advertised in OCT

2. the sales guys said the owner bought a volvo from him

3. i think the car brand new is like $85K

4. is $20K off the new car normal...almost looks like a pretty good steal if you ask me then this will be my first car so need help in opinions etc.

if the car is a lemon how does one know....i mean i think 307s in SGP shld be ok if i do get the odd one with tonnes of problems does anyone know if Autofrance will do their best to rectify??

thanks!!

just asked my 307-owner colleague of mine and here's the replies i got:

3. "Shouldn't the 307 1.6 be going for around high 70's now ?"

4. "Sounds like a good deal"

"No serious complaints about AF servicing except they're pretty busy and don't entertain urgent jobs"

[:)]

Personal opinion - if the car interests you, go check it out yourself and see how it feels to you. It serves no purpose to just debate on the "what-ifs".

the price sounds good....

Personally I hv not heard of any major problems frm fellow 307 owners...

anyway, the Top Gear list is bias....since when the British say good things abt French cars?? [laugh] Moreover, I was a proud owner of a Citroen Xsara, which, ironically also happens to be in the "list", albeit the bottom end. [laugh]

try asking around at www.citroenchat.com

would rather get a brand new civic for this price, if you are planning to drive it for five years atleast. If wanna conti car then go for one year old ford focus or opel astra.

From an ex-Peugeot owner.

This is my take.

Peugeot is a good car especially on E-Ways, but it does have its hiccups. The 7 (307 / 407 / 607) series for Peugeot are new models replacing the 6 series (206 / 306 / 406). nod.gif

Now parts replacement for Peugeot aint cheap. The 307 should be ok , havent heard any major problems about it. wink.gif

Autofrance should be able to rectify most problems with your Peugeot, just dont expect to stinge on parts sweatdrop.gif

S$65.8K is not bad .... but you can knock down price another S$3K. The 2nd hand car market aint doing too well ... use this to your advantage. If you are afraid of it being a lemon car , do the following as I did :- nod.gif

1) Get the plate no and call Autofrance. Ask for th servicing and maintenance history of this car. Tell them you are buying over this car. They will tell what you need to know. wink.gif

2) Get the dealer to bring the car down before purchase to Autofrance for a full diagnostics check .... you will pay for this. C&C charged me S$180 for this .... its a small price to pay to discover faults in the car. They can also check if the car has been involved with a major accident. Tell them exactly what you want them to look out for. tongue.gif

3) Ask them if the warranty is still valid .... and transferable to your name.

The above can be done with ease .... I've done it before, so can you thumbsup.gif

Once you clear the above .... then you can buy the car worry-free nod.gif

Thankyouthankyouthankyou.....to a certain extent, also because cannot afford to change to something else that I'd like to have.... [:p][laugh]

Wonder if Quattroporte owners are bothered about stuff like resale value and fuel consumption.... [laugh]
