Beanoyip Turbocharged November 2, 2005 Share November 2, 2005 Hi guys, got a little problem with the air conditioning of my car. During a hot day esp, the car's air conditioning isn't very cold. However during at nights or when there's no sun, the air con is rather cold. So whats the problem here? Does the air con need regassing? Or are there other problems with it? ↡ Advertisement
Octopus 3rd Gear November 2, 2005 Share November 2, 2005 Probably need regassing. But before regassing, its better to have the technician/mechanic to check for any leaks in the air-con system, such as at the tubing joints area.

Yeobh 4th Gear November 2, 2005 Share November 2, 2005 Make sure the mechanics is using gas leak detector and not his nose to find the leak

Darth_mel 1st Gear November 3, 2005 Share November 3, 2005 (edited) Looks like something the doctor will put in the arse.....to check gas leakage. [laugh] Confirm better than using the nose. Edited November 3, 2005 by Darth_mel
Beanoyip Turbocharged November 3, 2005 Author Share November 3, 2005 Hmm looks like its got nothing to do with regassing the car. There's a component called the transmit value in the air conditioning system which is kinda jammed and not allowing enough gas to flow into the cabin. I hope its not a massive job to do. You guys got any idea what's this transmit valve? The mechanic said would get back to me again..
Beanoyip Turbocharged November 3, 2005 Author Share November 3, 2005 Ok i went to google it and found some stuff which might be useful. As the compressor continues to pressurize the system, liquid refrigerant under high pressure is circulated from the receiver-drier to the thermostatic expansion valve. The valve removes pressure from the liquid refrigerant so that it can expand and become refrigerant vapor in the evaporator. This might be why my air conditioning is not cold.. the valve is either clogged or its damaged. I don't know.
Ahem Neutral Newbie November 3, 2005 Share November 3, 2005 Turn on air-con but disable your car's air-recirculation mode first. You might want to lower your front/back windows first to let cool air in/hot air out. After 10-15mins (your own preference), enable the air-recirculation mode, and wind up the windows. The air-con should be sufficiently colder now. I learned it here in MCF.
Jeffteng Neutral Newbie November 3, 2005 Share November 3, 2005 u might want to try this shop, his name is Ah Kiat, along Aljunied road, actually right in the middle of Geylang area, Shop name is AUTOSOUND. They are very good with A/C. Next to the shop is a comic shop so wont be hard to find.
Yeobh 4th Gear November 3, 2005 Share November 3, 2005 The device is called expansion valve ,which is located inside the evaporator. The expansion valve has a temp sensor coil tube. The expansion valve will by-pass the feron from the evaporator tubes if the temp within the evaporator is near freezing or as per temp knob setting. A faulty expansion will either cause the evaporator tube to ice up resulting in water vapour being blow out instead of cool air or will by pass all the feron resulting in no transfer of heat taking place - so no cool air. Ex_vagrant Neutral Newbie November 3, 2005 Share November 3, 2005 Hi, you can go markcool and replace the expansion valve. Was having same problem last year and after replacememt, cool cool air... Damage was about 30-40 dollars. ↡ Advertisement
