Screeching Sound

Noticed that some cars seem to have some screeching sound (sharp noise) when started up.

The sound will gradually go away.

What is the cause of this screeching?

Yes, my Kangoo got diesel leaking from the fuel injector which is directly over the accessory belt that drives the power steering, etc. As a result the belt got diesel fuel all over and it screeches until the belt heats up.

Be a little careful, hopefully it does not catches fire. Anyway of sealing it up using glue(a gray plaster type), used to do that on an old car of mine.

hmmm, what belt?

Timing belt? Air-con compressor belt? Alternator belt?

I saw a Toyota Picnic the other day that screeches so badly until my ears ache..haha. [laugh]

Previously I also have this problem.unsure.gif Later discovered that the bracket of the power steering pump had been modified by the previous owner, so the alignment of the pulley is out. Like you're described, the noise will go away after the engine warmed up.

Later changed back to the original bracket and problem solved.wink.gif

If its during turning, it could b the drive shaft rubbing against the axle. But its mostly found on old cars.

I tink for more accurate solutions, u shld go to workshop or back to dealer for professional diagnoiatics check... [gossip]
