Blackford Neutral Newbie January 10, 2006 Share January 10, 2006 Audi a4 2.0 at 120K+ and Bmw 3 series at 122K (Read Muddie report) My eyes must be playing tricks on me cos I always thought BMW higher a higher premium 5-10K when compare to A4
Toledosun Neutral Newbie January 11, 2006 Share January 11, 2006 nope. don't think your eyes were playing tricks. I think both Audi and Volvo distributors are pricing their at a premium. When I was shopping for my x-type, the cheapest A4 and the Volvo S60 were priced about $3k higher than the x-type.
Fluffy Clutched January 11, 2006 Share January 11, 2006 that would be the 2.0FSi and Auto/Tiptronic model?
Toledosun Neutral Newbie January 11, 2006 Share January 11, 2006 (edited) not the FSI, that's about $140k+. It's the older model, 2.0 engine,2.0 MU. If FSI, would have seriously considered. Edited January 11, 2006 by Toledosun
Falc 3rd Gear January 11, 2006 Share January 11, 2006 That's the launch price - 109K? Whatever happen to their claim of so called prelaunch discount price of 109K.
Soleution Neutral Newbie January 11, 2006 Share January 11, 2006 As a ex-seat owner, I have to agree with you on a distributor bring in high-end performance conti model to singapore, as there will be a market, but it may be totally not possible not bcos singapore market is small or what, it a simple reason being, we are right-hand drive, most conti car in europe are left hand drive, except maybe uk, to order 1 or 2 RHD Seat Cupra R from SEAT Spain is totally impossible, they only build to order at least 10 unit and above, then they will start to consider, if you import from UK as parallel import, the price is not cheap. As for singapore distributors, they also know there is a market for hi-performance model like WRX, EVO, but due to RHD issue, they rather drop the idea, unlike WRX, EVO, you can order from Japan anytime, and there are ton of WRX, EVO running around in Japan, as again Cupra R, RS4 running around in Europe. So as a singaporean, we only can accept our fate.
Ncss Clutched January 11, 2006 Share January 11, 2006 Audi a4 2.0 at 120K+ and Bmw 3 series at 122K (Read Muddie report)My eyes must be playing tricks on me cos I always thought BMW higher a higher premium 5-10K when compare to A4 Now all this car is about same price...Jugar X-type 2.0, Audi A4 2.0, Volvo S60 2.0T, BMW 320i...... price 119k ~ 123k, some Sales ppl can give more discount??? Maybe those sales ppl are more senior... BMW 320i drop greatly recently to 120k++, not sure why??? Jugar, Audi & Volvo still about the same... Ncss Clutched January 11, 2006 Share January 11, 2006 BMW is leading Conti-car & win Merc in annual sales in 2005 in term of car qty for the 1st time in S'pore history!!! Maybe BMW is afraid of the tread of Merc taking back the lead with their new S-class 2006. BMW 2006 has no new model except the 3-series coupe..., so they have to depend greatly on the 320i to fight Merc... haha
Toledosun Neutral Newbie January 11, 2006 Share January 11, 2006 heard from fellow forumer that x-type now $115k but they thrown in xenon lights and wood steering (both of which are non standard when I bought mine).

Toledosun Neutral Newbie January 11, 2006 Share January 11, 2006 oops. wrong wavelength. I was talking about the Audi A4 coming with that old 2.0 unit. The new passat is coming in with the 2.0 FSI.
Gkotody Neutral Newbie January 11, 2006 Share January 11, 2006 Like I said before no offence to anyone but if I had the $$$ would rather pay $115K for FSI & DSG technology which I think is really great technology but not sure if it has any bugs though. Richardeng6763 Neutral Newbie January 12, 2006 Share January 12, 2006 Personally, I have tried the Audi A6, Volvo S60. For the Audi, I didn't like the CVT gear box and the steering feel. And for the Volvo S60, its too cramp at the rear seat and its changing model soon in 2007 but its a nice car to drive. As for the Jaguar X-type, I read that its is actually a Mondeo with a Jag body and its cramp, but the name is obviously up-market. I am not sure about the price of the Beemer 320, if its at $120k, I think its a steal. If its price at $130k and above then I would not buy it. The new Passat got all the features I wanted, 6 speed tiptronic, keyless entry, ESP/TCS and many others.
Ncss Clutched January 12, 2006 Share January 12, 2006 I think the 120k++ BM 320i are the exhibition used cars carrying the VIP. It will be used for 8days, about 2k or 3k mileage. Similar to those cheap 5-series sold last year...
