Where to get heat insulating material?

where can i find foam based heat insulating material? i wanna slap it over my airbox... and do my own heat shield

 

any clues?

this are Polyethylne foam. There are also tube

form that some of us use it on the air-con piping.

Cost only $2 to $5 depend on size. This is properly

one of the cheapest around unless other bro able to

recommend other place. Oh this product does not coe with glue

Hi there,

 

I am also using thermal shield material to insulate my airbox as well.

 

You should be able to get the material from aircon shops. Cost about $10 for a sheet of 1m x 1.2m, with 10mm thickness.

3M double-sided tape. So far so good, no signs of melting of the tapes.

 

Btw mine is insulflex which is the same as armaflex.

Don't mind me asking. Why is the 1/2 inch type not recommended?

a bit too thick to work with!

Esp if you wanna wrap it around something.

That's from my own experience.

 

But thick may be good if you wanna use it as a partition or something.

yeap! that's was what i'm referring to!

 

Look at the sharp bend you have there!

I suggest from the look of your engine bay to get the thinnest one.

 

otherwise you'll have problem wrapping it around the bend and it'll squeeze against your alarm speaker and battery!
