Gantan88 Clutched October 22, 2005 Share October 22, 2005 Hi Forumers, If a driver is to name a person into his car insurance, is it going to increase his premium? If the person (to be added into the insurance) has claim before (about 6 years back), is it going to increase the premium too? Thanks. ↡ Advertisement
Guyver 1st Gear October 22, 2005 Share October 22, 2005 If you wanna add name driver in... as long as the person is - About same age as the insured - Pass driving as long as the insured or longer - No claim in the last 3years The premium will not be affected alot.... Usually if the person is > 26yrs old.. and passed driving > 2yrs.. and no claim in the last 3yrs.... usually no change in premium....
Gantan88 Clutched October 22, 2005 Author Share October 22, 2005 Haha, when i saw yr online status, i think likely u will be the first one to reply my post I have a claim history abt 5-6 years ago... Thing is i haven been owning a car for abt 3 years so claim or no claim history still applicable to me? so still considered as no claim?
Huggable Clutched October 22, 2005 Share October 22, 2005 Looking at your case, there should be no increase. My premium was up by S$70 when I added my wife, who had passed only earlier this year! Normally the exccess for P plate drivers will be higher too.

Guyver 1st Gear October 24, 2005 Share October 24, 2005 It depends on the insurance company.. and the scope... how old are you? and when did you pass your Class 3?
Guyver 1st Gear October 24, 2005 Share October 24, 2005 Yes... your named driver would be covered as well.... just that excess amount maybe different from you..

Just to clarify, I thought the word "excess" is only applicable to Comprehensive Insurance for claiming purposes, where the insurance company will pay the amount after minusing off the excess amount (maybe $550?) How does this comes into the picture, if for example myself, is insured under 3rd party only? Appreciate your clarification. Thanks.
