Pisces69 6th Gear October 21, 2005 Share October 21, 2005 I wanted to suggest the scrapyards but then I saw he already did it. I don't know what he really means but most cars have a metal strip that acts as a damper when u open the door. There is usually a stop point in the middle for door half-open. I can't u'stand how this can wear out but it seems a problem with many swifts here. If the door closes by itself, just dont grease the hinges & it will get stiff after some time. Mivec9 1st Gear October 21, 2005 Share October 21, 2005 yes it is the centre metal strip...well not sure why old swift has this inherent problem...mine only affect one door ...recently now it becomes ok... Maybe the labour charge was high...that's why bro ex-vagrant did at that price.
Pisces69 6th Gear October 23, 2005 Share October 23, 2005 (edited) so maybe your car half old & half new stock. Well if the labour charge was so high, maybe he sud have considered to DIY. But after fix it will come back if this is inherrent problem with swift doors. If yours can spoil then become ok again, cud b some spring gets stuck due to grease getting hard. Maybe some lube spray will loosen the spring again. Edited October 23, 2005 by Pisces69
