Ex_vagrant Neutral Newbie October 17, 2005 Share October 17, 2005 Hi Fellow Swifties, My swift back doors have loosened. i.e. it cannot stay in place where the doors are opened and tends to close back. Quite frustrating especially if you need to take out stuff. I also saw one old swift before with this problem. My mech says it's due to the door hinges or something. Or maybe our doors are not heavy enough for older cars.. Can anyone provide some advise on this? Thanks... ↡ Advertisement

Ex_vagrant Neutral Newbie October 18, 2005 Author Share October 18, 2005 Huh? The car in your avatar? I thought conti cars with heavy doors should not have this problem. I went car wash the Ah Neh when he try to clean inside, he tried to hold the door there but gave up! But still I'm bent on solving this..maybe can buy those hinge with spring and install... Fortress Clutched October 18, 2005 Share October 18, 2005 Better do something about it. Remebered some years ago, along Bedok Reservior road, an old Honda Accord had it's door flew open, the baby/woman(cannot remember mother or child) fell off the car and died. Fortress Clutched October 18, 2005 Share October 18, 2005 you are welcome. It is the lock that was worn. In cases like these, all you need to do is to change the lock or child lock it.
Ex_vagrant Neutral Newbie October 18, 2005 Author Share October 18, 2005 Doors can still close and lock tightly. Not a problem. It's just it can't stay there! when you open it, due to loose hinge...sigh... But the good thing is buttock training, coz need to use buttock to hold the door while taking out something from behind....

Atlantis_boi Clutched October 18, 2005 Share October 18, 2005 Absolutely sad. Just wondered why the child in not on safety seat. Tink last time do not have tis child seat law. Yup & wonder y the mother didnt wear safety belt or older cars gt no safety belts in the back.
Fortress Clutched October 18, 2005 Share October 18, 2005 The bum is a good way to hold it. It is very new issue to me actually, never encounter this before. It is normal for cars to have 2 stage doors.
Fortress Clutched October 18, 2005 Share October 18, 2005 Sigh...been using the seat for my nephew in 89, 90. Believe it was due to that 10 years or so ago, that the law was implimented. And rear belt was a must since 89 models, I think that was the 12v honda accord. Another sad thing is today, there are people who still allow their children to stand inside the car. Told a friend once, a crying child is better than a dead one. Children needs to be thought about safety too, like Barney does..."going to grandma home I buckle my belt"...
