Lucionatic Neutral Newbie October 16, 2005 Share October 16, 2005 He is an American Japanese. Helluva talented guy. After the successful 350Z project, he got reassigned to the more prominent designing section in Tokyo (since all decisions are made in Tokyo). But he struggled in that country since he is totally clueless in Japanese Language. Now, Tokyo sends him back to MY college to learn Japanese (for an intensive 2-year course). ↡ Advertisement
Darknight73 Neutral Newbie October 17, 2005 Share October 17, 2005 frankly, i will not consider a Ford made in thailand a european car, neither a chevy made in korea an american car. it loses it meaning totally. just like, would you call a fellow singaporean a singaporean just because he/she is given citzenship, but knows nuts about the singapore culture? for me, it is a no-no. Genie47 1st Gear October 17, 2005 Share October 17, 2005 If you are confused, this is due to globalizaiton. GM which makes Chevrolet and Opel/Vauxhall are all over but hat many divisions just like Ford has an American section and a European sector. Take GM for example. GM USA is well USA. (duh!) Then there is GME which is GM Europe. They make Opels. GMH is GM Holden which is Australia where all the Holdens are. Finally the news orphan adopted by GM is GMDAT or GM Daewoo Automotive Technologies. Their kimchi orphan that GM bought to make cheap subcompacts because they don't have subcompacts to begin with! So GM USA makes Real American cannot turn properly on the dime cars. GME makes the German engineered Opel/Vauxhalls. GMH makes the Holden monsters that their police use and cannot catch WRXs. Finally, GMDAT makes mass market cheapos for GM's child companies like Chevrolet, Pontiac and Suzuki. Yes, GM also owns Suzuki.

Vincentacy Neutral Newbie October 27, 2005 Share October 27, 2005 Hi there, how much are you planning to sell your discount coupon? As you know, when you use a discount coupon like this, that would also mean there will not be cash discount/freebies and sometimes, even rebates from the agent/sales rep. I got a cousin looking at a Fiat Punto now... Vincent Ang

Firewire Neutral Newbie October 27, 2005 Share October 27, 2005 Hi Vincent, maybe you could ask you cousin to contct me at 90095585 to discuss. I'm looking at $4000 but price negotiable. sometimes to be honest i'd rather not want the freebies, cause end of the day there is none. let's say usual price $50,000 interest rates at say 2.5% then claim they have a road show offering freebies so ask you to check it out. roadshow freebies,= offering free leather seats, sport rims,10 disc changer, free 6 months installments....blah blah blah .... roadshow car price $56,000 interest rates 3% hmmmmmmmmm. some kinda freebie if your cousin getting a new car, need not be Fiat, advise him/her to check out showrooms during normal days to see their ususal selling price first. else the next best thing is to squeeze the car salesperson for as much freebies as possible cause since they already incorporated into car price. best rdgs, kelvin

Spas Neutral Newbie November 2, 2005 Share November 2, 2005 what is marque ?? anyway though chevrolet is conti or marque, but maker still from korea rite? so quality wise is comparable to other cars in conti/marque? It's a Daewoo. Built at the former Daewoo factory by mostly Daewoo workers and Daewoo machinese, though GM invested quite a bit at improving manufacturing operations. It's still a Daewoo. Badge engineering sucks. Alfa Romeo seems to go that way too with the Alfa Romeo Brera. It has a 3.2litre V6 engine from GM - tuned to make it sound more like an Alfa engine. How sad. Why are they doing this to their brand. Wonder what the managers at the Alfa HQ are thinking...
Butthead Neutral Newbie November 6, 2005 Share November 6, 2005 (edited) with all due respect to korean marques, Conti cars are a few notches above in terms of class. both Fiat panda and Hyundai Getz quite close in price BUT sad truth but when u arrive in a Fiat vs a Hyundai, class different liao.. same goes for peugeot.. conti cars got a bit more class Edited November 6, 2005 by Butthead
Flubber Neutral Newbie November 6, 2005 Share November 6, 2005 no insurance? wats dat mean??.. for the market now; vw polo, fiat punto & panda , skoda fabia seems to be the cheapest conti cars around... I'll prefer the polo(made in south africa for us) , punto & panda(most parts made in other parts of europe but assembled in italy), fabia( made in ckech) at least they range from 60 to 50 k now.... I think the Fiat Panda is by far the cheapest conti @ $51k with a $14k OMV. The polo's OMV is lower, means much higher depreciation.
Zulu Neutral Newbie November 11, 2005 Share November 11, 2005 How abt Opel Meriva... think its quite cheap, I think abt 60 - 65k, value for money considering a conti car for that kinda price. Patrickdietrich Neutral Newbie November 16, 2005 Share November 16, 2005 Hi! I just need some help from you guys. I am thinking of getting an Opel Astra Cabriolet 1.6M (July 2003). In my view, the price seems pretty good for a second hand ($70k). Plus I am specifically looking for an affordable cabriolet for a fun ride for the next 2 - 3 years. Just wondering whether there are any problems with this particular car which you guys have heard of. How is the maintenance like for the car and the parts and what are the likely issues I might have with it? Thank you so much for helping out. Am pretty new to this forum. I was not allowed to start a separate post cos of a 15-post rule. Unfortunately, I needed urgent info cos will be looking at the car soon. So I had to leech onto this thread to get my questions through. Will be very very grateful for any answers. Thanks alot ) ↡ Advertisement
