Foxfire Neutral Newbie October 6, 2005 Share October 6, 2005 "After several weeks of hushed whispers in closed circles, and originally considered something of an unlikely rumour, it has been revealed that Russian car manufacturer Lada are set to enter the World Touring Car Championship at some point in 2006 with the intention of a full assault in 2007 and 2008." Genie47 1st Gear October 6, 2005 Share October 6, 2005 Russian steel very strong. Mostly from melted T55 tanks.
Godfinger Neutral Newbie October 6, 2005 Share October 6, 2005 Not only that. Their car FC very bad. Remember my friend had a Samara back in 1990s. His FC very bad and complains but in return he have a very tough car. Niva also.
Gadgeter 2nd Gear October 6, 2005 Share October 6, 2005 you mean, they are still around??!!!
Genie47 1st Gear October 6, 2005 Share October 6, 2005 Niva needs direct hit from ICBM before it dies. All those driving SUVs now think they got something tough? They have not met head on with a Niva. Even the Landrovers are not "rough worthy" cars. More like fashion statements with their luxurious interiors ferrying children. Most owners also cannot tahan it being dirty.
Genie47 1st Gear October 6, 2005 Share October 6, 2005 (edited) They got GME as partner. Mainly producing tough dependable family cars and the reputable Niva. Niva is not exported outside Europe because they have them in LHD only. I think they want to race is because GMDAT takes part as Chevrolet. So why not GME-Lada take part as well. Looks good. Godfinger Neutral Newbie October 6, 2005 Share October 6, 2005 correct. I remember seeing a Niva during her days. Tough but just lack the right appeal. Therefore I see no one renewing her COE till now.
Genie47 1st Gear October 6, 2005 Share October 6, 2005 If I drive Niva, I'll be damn hiong. Let other cars crash on me I also don't care. I brush by other cars also don't care. I will also gladly run over humps, dead animals and even wrecked cars on the road.

Fortress Clutched October 6, 2005 Share October 6, 2005 They are still around my friend, actually they has been much better, compared to the tank-liked Samara, seen many in Russian a few months ago. Had a friend who drove one, engage the first gear, like all continental cars but without a downward motion to engage, look behind and accelerated, the car moved forward instead as he has engage 1st gear, slammed into his terrence house wall, a gapping with hollow bricks broken, reversed out and the car had no damage. Genie47 1st Gear October 6, 2005 Share October 6, 2005 No chance. In the old days, anyone seeing a Lada Samara will avoid it as though some terrorist had planted a bomb in it.
Fortress Clutched October 6, 2005 Share October 6, 2005 As boys, remember how we played with our Matchbox cars where collision brought no damage, the Lada is like that, but do not look that good as the Matchbox. ↡ Advertisement
