Presea 2nd Gear January 22, 2003 Share January 22, 2003 ...so odd, I didn't see your post before the other one... I was recalling this just a moment ago, as I was looking through the thread on small cars, Honda Beat and Cappuccino included. The engine is not a small one if I recall correctly. It was similar in performance to the charade Gtti, with 100-110hp stock. With mods and in race-tune, it would hit 140hp. I read that it would do the 0-400m in 13+ seconds.... (of course this could be an exageration..) Maybe we could get an old City and soup it up for racing at PG
Soya Supersonic January 22, 2003 Share January 22, 2003 Hey! I had one of these b4 overseas. The Turbo I 1200cc HPT wif digital boost gauge, speedo, red carpeting (kinda like the an 80's Type-R),etc. Really fun car for point & squirt driving. Should've seen the shocked look on those 3.0L Holdens when this little Honda out-accelerated them at the lights!

Soya Supersonic January 22, 2003 Share January 22, 2003 Wah, dunno if can still find the old pix or not. Will try. In fact, it looks exactly like the black one u pasted above. Yes, had it in Oz. Mine was the '84 City Turbo I which was damn quick in straight line but hopeless in corners becoz of the high CG. Very poor as a student so had to make do wif the stock 12" wheels.(haha...when was the last time anyone heard of a turbocharged car running on 12" rims??? ) It was probably the only factory turbo car which Honda produced. But juz as well honda stuck to NA coz the on-off nature of the turbo was frentic! Off-boost the City was sluggish like tortoise but after that, whoo-hoo!! The Turbo II wif intercooler is absolutely gorgeous! Saw one or two still running around in SG.
Yongwd 1st Gear January 22, 2003 Share January 22, 2003 General Honda City Turbo Information Honda has only manufactured two models of turbocharged car (other than F1). One was a 2.5 litre V6 Legend needing a bit more go, the other, a tiny commuter car known as the City or Jazz. It's ironic that the car they choose to release as a special edition turbo was the least sportscar like vehicle in the Honda range. The Honda City Turbo was the brainchild of Hirotoshi Honda. Hirotoshi is the son of Honda's Founder. Hirotoshi

Soya Supersonic January 22, 2003 Share January 22, 2003 (edited) Apparently, the Honda City was something of a cult car in Japan during the turbo-crazy 80s. Edited January 22, 2003 by Soya

Mymini Neutral Newbie January 22, 2003 Share January 22, 2003 hey soya......nice to meet a fellow ex-City Turbo owner. had one in Aus as well (that's many years back).....had a white Turbo II with the flared arches etc. had it for 1 year but sold it as it needed engine overhaul.....drove it like there is no tomorrow. off-boost performance is weak but the kick is shiok when it comes in.....saw 170+kmh on the digital speedo (but i think not too accurate) i first saw that car in Singapore many year ago....owner is the boss of Gay Hian(specialise in 2nd hand porsche).. his was a metallic navy blue Turbo II.......now i also own Eurosport (lotus & lambo agent). i will be v surprise if still got TurboII in Singapore. If i am not wrong, Turbo II is a JDM.
