Genie47 1st Gear October 1, 2005 Share October 1, 2005 Entennas have no batteries. However, do note that a fully extended entenna can increase your FC!
Elfenstar 3rd Gear October 1, 2005 Share October 1, 2005 Have you thought of putting a reception booster in???
Virusted Neutral Newbie October 1, 2005 Share October 1, 2005 Increase FC?? care to explain more??
Virusted Neutral Newbie October 1, 2005 Share October 1, 2005 how much will that cost?
Genie47 1st Gear October 1, 2005 Share October 1, 2005 Aerodynamic drag. That is why Americans are told to be patriotic by not putting flags on their entennas. It will increase the draw even more. Dunno what the Malaysians were thinking. Anything that sticks out like a sore thumb from your car's outline will increase FC. Roof cross bars (that is why cars only come with roof rails), big side mirrors and super long vertical entennas. Most cars entennas are angled to reduce their profile. Those with fixed entennas usually change to short ones. In Singapore, those with fixed entennas usually get the same reception with a short entenna. Elfenstar 3rd Gear October 1, 2005 Share October 1, 2005 Sorry I dunno the price. I'm guessing around $20 to $30.
Muddy 1st Gear October 1, 2005 Share October 1, 2005 "Zhoon boh"??? A little rod like the antenna, how much drag does it has? The angled antenna is to match the shape of the car and probably has no consideration of drag at all. Those that comes long antennas were changed to shorter ones are probably for vanity. Potheader Clutched October 1, 2005 Share October 1, 2005 There is still drag. The antenna disrupts laminar flow.
Muddy 1st Gear October 1, 2005 Share October 1, 2005 Maybe you want to go to another mechanic to ask for second opinion. The reception depends on a number of parts, right from the antenna to your head unit. Under normal situation, it is probably at those points with joints that may be faulty. A simple dry-solder may start to fail after some time. The wire itself is seldom at fault. Another thing is the head unit(HU) that may be faulty. What car are you driving? Car's age? Agent? Warranty for car and HU?
Muddy 1st Gear October 1, 2005 Share October 1, 2005 Errmm... I mean there is. But negligible right? Compare to other drags the car has?
Potheader Clutched October 1, 2005 Share October 1, 2005 Ya.. the drag is rather small, BUT it still contributes to at least an increase of 2-3% of FC. Similar to opening windows and travelling above 80kmh. Main drag is your windscreen. ↡ Advertisement
