Renegade Neutral Newbie September 21, 2005 Author Share September 21, 2005 Nah....just my way of dealing with disappointment as the could-be-better handling of the the local car scene (and the fact that some car drivers actually know better) which I personally believe could be so much better. But thanks for the compliment (I'll take it sa a compliment) all the same....

Magfocus 5th Gear September 21, 2005 Share September 21, 2005 Quote Regent Motors brought in a number of 1.6 manuals during their launch of the Mk II Focus a few months ago. But they got rid of all (not sure in SG or outside), focusing only on the autos now. I asked the SE why (at the launch) they wanted to discontinue bringing in the manual. He told me that the RM boss found out only after the cars came in, that the autos have a Tiptronic-work-alike speed selector ... so no point having the manual model for sale. I told the SE that they are not in the same league ... but I guess my feedback has fallen onto deaf ears. The 1.6 auto IMHO, is underpowered. Only if RM were to bring in the 116 BHP 1.6L variant. Why does Ford limit that to UK/Aus/NZ sales only for their RHD models? The Focus models in Aus actually only have the 2.0 duratec models, in manual and auto form. C708 Neutral Newbie September 21, 2005 Share September 21, 2005 Quote Of course there is - in the Polo, the manual comes in this neat folder that sits in the glovebox, along with the maintenance logbook, as with most other VAG-based cars on this end of the market. Renegade Neutral Newbie September 22, 2005 Author Share September 22, 2005 Yes, yesssssssss...in Australia they've also got 2.3-ltr Mazda3's, 3-ltr Camry's and 5.7-ltr Commodore HSV's. And all of them manuals on the transmission tunnel instead of the glovebox. What a drivers' paradise that'll be....(ok, maybe not the Camry ).... Trouble is we're like 6-8 hours off target, by air....
Magfocus 5th Gear September 22, 2005 Share September 22, 2005 Well, its a bigger country.. Definitely not the aussie camry.. Perth is like, 4 hrs by air?

Yttrium Neutral Newbie September 22, 2005 Share September 22, 2005 I'm quite surprised they brought this variant in.. hmm time for a TD. Did I hear wheelspin?
Renegade Neutral Newbie September 23, 2005 Author Share September 23, 2005 Well, the surprise that came along the 1.4 having a manual transmission was kinda dampened by the fact that the 1.6 didn't but yeah, I'd strongly recommend a test drive. And, oh, find out of they could add a bit more feel to the clutch too, while you're at it And, yes, wheelspin, but not from me - I'm one of them docile, non-aggressive types
